I have been tracking what dragons eat, and also what primary food dragons eat (the first food they will eat over other food types),
I guess they always ate the meat,
and always thought guardians only ate seafood, insects and plants, and primarily ate seafood when its been meat the whole time.
And suddenly guardians primarily eat meat, when before they did not,
This change is recentish,
They used to eat Seafood, Insects and plants, but not meat.
did anyone else notice this?
edit:
There are only 3 dragons that primarily eat seafood
Ridgebacks and Coatl Both of which have a mono-diet and only seafood,
And Imperials, which eat all 4 food groups.
ExtrEdit:
Maybe it didnt appear on hover or soemthing? because I never checked encyclopedias for the diets just hovered that type of dragon to see which food type.

But they've always eaten all four food types, at least according to what I remember. I even double-checked in the encyclopedia and on the FR wiki...
Edit: After sifting through both the encyclopedia and the FR wiki to make sure that I've not phased into an alternate universe:
Modern breeds:
>Coatls and Ridgebacks have always eaten seafood.
>Guardians and Imperials have always eaten all four food types.
>Fae have always eaten insects.
>Mirrors have always eat meat and seafood.
>Tundras have always eaten plants.
>Pearlcatchers and Skydancers have always eaten both plants and insects.
>Snappers have always eaten both plants and seafood.
>Spirals and Nocturnes have always eaten both meat and insects.
>Bogsneaks have always eaten both meat and plants.
>Wildclaws have always eaten meat.
Ancient breeds:
>Gaolers have always eaten plants and meat.
>Banescales have always eaten meat, seafood, and insects.
>Veilspun have always eaten all four food types.

Guardians have always eaten all 4 food types, same with Imperials.
edit; they've also always appeared that way on hover.
In the time I've been (since May of last year) here they've always eaten all four types. Maybe you didn't notice it?

They have always been able to eat all the food types along with Imperial dragons and now with Veilspun dragons too.

as a bonafied guardian lover, can confirm, guardians always ate all four, they just prefer meat and will eat that first

I've always had meat eating guardians so if it was a change its def not recent.
I only know its not recent since I had made a joke at one point to a friend that guardians don't list seafood first despite being a water breed. Meanwhile ridgebacks eat exclusively seafood despite being from essentially a desert. -the joke was that guardians choose to eat meat before their native food since ridgies are constantly 'borrowing' seafood from them.
it may have just taken you a while to notice their meat listed? Since it is kind of hidden under the word type and easy to focus in on the last three type. While imps and veils also eat all 4 types, both of them list seafood and insects first- much longer words than meat so they stick out a bit more in the format.
