I think many colors can work together, with a bit of work and creativity. But... you'll probably lose money by hatching. It's up to you. If you wanted money for something, I'd say sell. If that doesn't matter to you, I'd say hatch. It just depends on what you're working towards. :)

I decide weather to hatch or sell based on how many projects I have. If I don't have any gene projects to do, I hatch and try to take the colors I get as a challenge.
I've decided the challenge wasn't worth it a couple of times after hatching and gave up, but I did also get these guys out of it:
