Considering how many breeds are like that, it's intentional
Have you ever seen perfectly symmetrical veining on rocks?

Symmetrical, no, but I would expect it to show up on the other side
Also we can see from the way Nocture and Skydancer wings fold over that it is visible on both sides of the one wing that it's on

I love that it’s not symmetric. It looks really pretty as scars, or lightning bolts.

Wow, there's so many responses!
Thank you all for responding, I love reading them! Keep em comin guys!
I love the idea that it's spreading, like slowly. Like a sort of infection or something taking over, that idea would work great for a shade-touched dragon.
Or lightning bolts, like @

Definitely purposeful asymmetry. If you look, it’s always on one wing and the opposite foot (with a couple exceptions on bases where that foot isn’t visible). I like it, personally! But I can see how it might not be everyone’s cup of tea.
Edit: Lorewise I view it as following “lines” in the body, and branching from there. One line is head to tail, the other line is wing to toe. What those lines are depends on the tert and dragon. Magic streams? Infection? Mineral deposits in living rock? Tons of possibilities!

asdfghjkl i never noticed that, but now i have it annoys me xD they dont have to be symetrical, but even just a littttttle bit,,,
even the hatchlings are the same!

I also enjoy the fact that it's not symmetrical.
Many people have drawn the conclusion that this gene was based off kintsugi or "golden joinery". The point of kintsugi is that when something important breaks, it is repaired with gold, silver or platinum and thus, becomes more beautiful in its asymmetry than it was as a whole.
I think that Veined relies on that idea by having one wing unaffected, as breaks aren't always even.

yeah it's specifically designed to be asymmetrical
the only one that actually sticks out to me is the female fae
