Mariposa here isn't shade touched herself, but she's a healer who can cure Shade touched dragons by exorcising Shade fragments inside the dragon. There's also a Coatl who had been forcibly injected with Shade, turning him into a soulless puppet controlled by his master, a warlock who had been corrupted by the Shade himself. Long story short, the Coatl was sent to the Phrontistery by his old clan's leader in a bid to weaken the warlock's power, and he was put into an artificially induced coma to keep him alive, while Mariposa tries to find away to get rid of the shade and bring his soul back. (The Shade didn't manage to get all of his soul - a few fragments remain, dispossessed from their original body).

Please click these little guys, it takes way too long to hatch them.
I've always seen shade possession as a disease of sorts, that continuously got worse as time progressed. The possession also shows itself in different ways depending on how far gone the dragon is
Lemme just lore scream for a second
Shade-touched - This term is used to describe dragons who've been tainted by the Shade. These dragons are on a guaranteed path towards insanity. The symptoms show themselves initially as above average strength, insomnia, and irritability. As time goes on, the tainted develops superstrength, dark scleras, and a dark gas that leaks from their eyes, typically. This stage is also accompanied by black blood that drips from their mouths or noses. When a dragon begins leaking the "corruption," they're usually beyond saving. Dragons at this stage are extremely aggressive, almost mad, and lose their sense of self-preservation. It isn't rare for some to go insane.
Shade-born - The product of a normal dragon and shade-touched one, Shade-born are much, much luckier than their tainted parent. They have the black/dark blood and black scleras, but lack the madness that comes with being shade-touched. Most have the super strength.
Dragons who have shade-born parents have varying traits (some may have dark scleras, the super strength, etc.)
Cures - Shade-born dragons and those who've gone past the tipping point cannot be cured, as the Shade is too innately bound in their essence. Those who've been recently shade-touched can be fixed through powerful magical exorcism or (very surprisingly) cutting off the body part that touched the Shade.
As well, I see the Shade not as darkness, but as... nothing, as if the Shade is the very embodiment of the void itself. It looks alive, feels alive, but isn't. Nothing about it is real

No one knows if Deepest Darkness is a piece of the Shade or just a dragon infected with it. She bobs along the ceilings of the caves like a lost balloon. It's best not to touch her.

Liandrin here is my only Shade-touched dragon. They were once a Gaoler guard (either a Keeper or an Overseer, haven't decided which yet) who got too close to a fragment of the Shade. They are now pure evil, and contained at the bottom of a frozen pond by a pair of Gaolers.
I haven't quite thought about those specific topics but in my lore, nocturnes are inherently Shade-touched due to them being from Shadow, but not enough for them to be like, dangerous. (Probably helps them with mimicking) That's why in my lore, all or almost all of my Nocturnes are put in containment by the Gaolers, they want to contain all the Shade... the Nocturnes know it's not fair but the Gaolers don't listen which causes a tension.

Aka: Motivatoin for me to work on my freaking lore
I personally think Shade touched dergs have weird mutatoins and black gooey blood
'Why does that Tundra over there have 10 legs and no wings?'
'Oh Henry? Yeah don't mind him. It's just his thing'
*Demonic Screeching in the distance with mingled cries for help mashed together in a messed up voice*

Every dragon in my "Corrupted" tab is shade touched, though the Shade in my lore acts pretty differently to the canon Shade. My lore is basically an AU of the canon lore lol. Anyways, the Shade corrupts the land, and if you're in contact with it for too long, you'll begin to be changed to the Shade's whims, whatever they may be. The Shade has basically hijacked the realm of the dead, preventing souls from passing onto the afterlife, and instead corrupting them for it's own uses.
