You poke your head into a few rooms, looking for provisions... or treasure, but so far your search hasn't turned up anything interesting. It's quite beautiful, even if it does feel abandoned. You don't know where everyone is, but suspect the breakout might be bigger than you initially thought. All the guards seem to have disappeared from this area entirely. You descend deeper in the fortress, noticing dark shapes in the ice walls. You try not to look too closely, but finally your curiosity gets the better of you and you decide to examine the ice a bit closer in one of the rooms. The ice is different here - it looks like someone had previously tried to defrost it, but got stopped midway. You wonder what was in it that could possibly tempt a dragon to try to melt such a huge area of ice.

Then you notice a control panel on the opposite entryway - temperature controls for the area. You could warm the room a bit and see what was in the ice for yourself... you try to talk yourself out of it, but the idea intrigues you.


Choose one:

You decide to heat up the room and see what is in the ice for yourself.

You leave quickly. Whatever's in there does not need to be released.

You actually stop the last guard to figure out what's going on.

"One of the... residents... got loose during this prison breakout. Clearly designed to be a distraction so we can't focus on stopping the escaping dragon prisoners - obviously, it's working. We can't afford to let it leave the fortress. No telling what type of damage it would do."

The guard spares you a glance. "But if any of us survive, don't worry - we'll be after you next. Unless you're willing to pick up a weapon and help. We might show you some leniency if you fight with us."


Choose one:

Nope. Run!

Not only did you find an exit, but you also found supplies! You can't believe your luck. This looks like an area guards use to prep to go outside for patrol - possibly even for longer excursions. You fill a pack with food and supplies and pick out some winter clothing for your own trip. You step outside. The wind is blowing, and it is [i]cold[/i]. Fortunately, the artic gear you are wearing keeps you warm. Ironically, the dragons you thought you heard were in this direction, along with some type of machinery they were using to break through the wall. Apparently, they decided they weren't just going to wander around trying to find a pre-existing exit that was probably, in retrospect, likely guarded.

The prisoners look at you suspiciously. You explain how you escaped and tell them that you are just looking for a way out like them.

After some discussion, the dragons invite you to help them try to break through the wall and join them on their escape. You think it over - it would be nice to stop wandering and they do look close to busting out. However, if the sounds drew you, then it was likely that the sounds would also attract guards. You decide that's a good reason to try to leave the fortress as quickly as possible.


Choose one:

You don't trust these dragons. After all, they are prisoners. Decide to go your own way.

You don't have any better options. They look close to breaking out and could help you survive the travel back to your clan.

Out of the corner of your eye, you see movement and immediately start to worry about being trapped with a monster.

Somehow you manage to survive the trip back to your clan with all the bunnies in tow. You settle back into your home life and no one seems to mind a few extra familiars hopping around. Your capture and escape make for a great campfire story, especially with the embellishments you add. Then the bunnies start multiplying.
