(Spotted you in the comments of No Good End the other day, actually, I'm so glad Karlach got herself a soggy lap vampire <3 ) Written a few myself, and working on a longer Wyllachstarion fic right now! I'd love any recs, and I have a list myself here, although I'm a multishipper so it's all over the place, haha.

Isn't it the most gorgeous accent? <3 (I also have an F Fae version!) Had it for ages just waiting for the right recipient, and it works great for Gale! If you want one of the orb-and-hand things, by the way, I have a ton. And man if you could dress Aethers, Gale would be one like that. You can even tie their eating paper/books thing into Arcane Hunger!

I really like your reasoning too! Fluffy-maned Obelisk Gale works so well :D That's one thing I love about fandragons, there are so many ways to do them!

@ryttu3k Oh, no way, haha. Had no idea I was that conspicuous. [emoji=banescale laughing size=1] That's a little embarrassing. No Good End In View was going to top my firebloodpact rec list... also pretty much any of Ushuaz's works, which I see you've got, and Raayide's as well, because I see you've already recced their first fic, but the latest one is even more Starlach and [i]hell[/i] if they don't always turn out the most jaw-dropping premises. Like, no shade to AO3 because it feeds me often and well, but there's a lot of scenarios you see done to death. Raayide always cranks out something brand new and completely blindsides you with hitherto unexplored angst potential. There are a [i]lot[/i] of my favorites on your list. What Drifts on the Air, Glass, Snare, The Last Will And Testament of Cazador Szarr, Something Lonesome and Wild... one of one Laluzis agree that you have great taste. I'll rec Nothing Like the Sun, You Go Down South, and Black Fingernails Red Wine as Wyllstarion, but you've likely seen those ones around already. Jellyfishline also does amazing Wyllstarion character study (and proper diving into the Wyll side of the angst too, something the earlier entries in the fandom weren't as good at before we started to realize that hey, Wyll is kind of seriously messed up actually) and I'm deeply in love with basically anything they turn out. Partingxshot is another excellent author who's dipped their toes into several ships (as well as the author of the infamous Disneyland AU and the Ulder Ravengard Father-In-Law Simulator. Very skilled at crack taken seriously and punchy emotional stuff alike.) Hot Mess (Bloodweave) looks like a silly premise, but it's actually crazy good and astonishingly well thought out on top of being choke on your own spit hilarious. BG3 cast meets modern day problems and Twitter culture. And Seven Minutes In Avernus is a lovely Karlach-Astarion character piece ft. enclosed spaces. I also highly recommend Forsaken as an incredible character study on all six origins and [i]the[/i] consummate novelization – it's more Wyllstarion than Wyllachstarion (and also some really good Shadowzel), but the endgoal is queerplatonic firebloodpact and you can already see the parallels being toyed with. Man. Very, very long fic, but insanely well thought out. My favorite part about it is that all the characters get to develop and have relationships with all the other characters; fic often tunes out the non-focus characters and has ships monopolize each other's screentime, but this one really lets everyone cook. A good one to tackle if you've got an empty day. Now that [i]very belatedly[/i] I recognize you, I know I've read your modern-day Jaheira-Astarion interview (which, [i]thank you[/i], we desperately need more Jaheira-Astarion content. Wildly underrated weird friendship. Have you read Lost in Frozen Fire?) and also This Is A Gift (It Comes With A Price), which was my favorite take on Ascended Astarion yet! (Oh man, the whole turning into a bat to not have to feel the emptiness slew me, and their weird semi-adversarial We're Not Addressing Any Of This while Wyll just... treats him like a stray cat because he doesn't know where else they can go from here.) I don't comment nearly enough, but know I loved both of them to bits. So I am deeply interested in anything you've got cooking! [emoji=normal eyes size=1][emoji=normal eyes size=1] It is [i]so pretty.[/i] I love UMAs but don't acquire nearly enough of them... my favorites are the ones that add ornamentation and detail without being completely overpowering, and that's exactly it. Always feel so lucky when I find something to fit a fandragon. (Oh my god, Aether-Gale eating everyone's enchanted scrolls on top of all the boots. I love it and I am angry that I did not think of it myself. I was just going hehe silly nerd man ft insane hubristic megalomania.) Oh, that's a clever take! Tentacles, facelessness, freaky vibes, plus it's literally a drone. I raise the Irregular Nekomata. Not quite as eldritch in form, but it's pink, it has mutant tail-tendrils, and it is a KITTY. Ooh, let's see! Got Raayide's latest (that's the one with Z'rell, yes?) in my bookmarks list. The list is embarrassingly long, but it is there! Black Fingernails Red Wine and Nothing Like The Sun are in the 'to read when finished' list, have read and enjoyed You Go Down South and a lot of Jellyfishline's and Partingxshot's stuff, although I haven't (yet) read the Ulder or Disneyland ones! (The Ulder one is on the bookmark list of doom. I cannot say enough how many fics are on that dang list.) Seven Minutes in Avernus I've read and loved, Hot Mess I shall put on the list! I can't seem to find Forsaken, who wrote that one?

! I'm glad you enjoyed those! I have a few others floating around, but they're mostly little gen oneshots. Lost in Frozen Fire I've read and felt many emotions over, poor Astarion ;_; I'm hoping to finish the fic by the end of the month (just sort of dreading writing the next scene because... it's Karlach post-dealing-with-Gortash ;_; ), will let you know when it's done!

I may or may not have a UMA problem. Eheh. Don't do a lot of project dragons, so that's where much of my gems go. There are some very talented people on this site!

Gale eating his way through the inventory is too fun <3 I know it's a meme, but like. Astarion literally says Gale's not allowed to eat the Necromancy of Thay. It's a meme that exists in-universe and that's always top tier :D And I adore the Irregular Nekomata, although mine is currently living with Astarion and is named HisMajesty~ Either way, Us the Jelly Drone is now living with my resist!Durge, to represent his first moment of resisting hurting a living being! He's such a good boy <3

@ryttu3k Ahhh, the dread to-read list. I've got an entire dead tab full of fics I mean to check out and haven't gotten around to. Sorry-not-sorry for growing yours! Forsaken is by Elysiummm! It's also unfinished, if you prefer to wait for fics to wrap up before checking them out, but it is a very ambitious project and you might be waiting. years. in that case. Though I think she plans to handle each act as a separate fic? Hhh. [i]That[/i] scene. Shred my heart, why don't you. Like, it's everything Karlach's been smiling through this entire time (something something wyllachstarion all white-knuckle clutching their masks), but it's the breathless, slightly choked-up “Thanks for existing. Love you.” at the end that hits me with 6d8 emotional damage. [i]So[/i] talented. I wish there was an easier way to shop around – in some ways the item database helps a lot, but mostly it shows you a bunch of pretty art you can't obtain because the artist isn't active anymore and no copies are circulating, and then you have to anguish over What Could Have Been. (don't do umas, kids) How could I forget His Majesty? Glorious creature. I think it's so funny that him being a sphinx was actually a bug, and he was supposed to be a fluffy persian or somesuch and was accidentally assigned the model of the cat at Moonrise Towers, but when they patched it back, the fandom collectively rioted until they changed him back to his gloriously hairless self. Between him, Astarion, and Raphael, it's kinda clear we're weak for the narcissists. And aww, you know, I never realized that Us was Durge's first possible moment of self-determination? That makes meeting Us later on, who's also broken free of its birthright and is learning to be a self-driven creature, so much more powerful. To the newly designated Jelly Drone I dispense headpats. Brainpats? Wyll also has that line about Gale slurping up a magic item like a horse with a carrot. The characters are literally memeing on him. (I love them all. Can never get enough party banter.) Though I'm not sure where boots specifically came from, now that I think about it - though that then got 'canonized' in the Christmas special... (as did lap vampires) @Gyroid Thank you! [emoji=nocturne laughing size=1] Yay, more G1 fandragons! That is a [i]snazzy[/i] Orin – the girl revels in Flecks, but that accent with its bloody glitter and bladed red halos are the star of the show. Skydancer's another good fit for her because the female pose is so sleek and menacing (and Orin's also both spindly and very, very artistic in her own right.) And Shar! Cloaked in shadow, as she ought to be. I really like that subtle wing layering; I didn't recognize the bow at first and got excited over new wing silks. She's a very cool double G1, especially because Oilslick has those purply undertones with Bee!

Holy guacamole 347,559 words and counting... okay, I'll put it in the Read-When-Finished list, but I may have to take a week or month or something to do so XD And it's still in act 1?!

It emotionally wrecks me. Sam Beart's performance is incredible. In my first run, my Tav was actually romancing Karlach and I was understandably pretty emotionally destroyed, but it was actually getting that, "Thanks for existing. Love you" in my resist!Durge run (who was romancing Astarion and Halsin instead), and learning that she always says that, because she loves all of them, that just. Ruined me. Literally cried watching it.

And yeah, the best way to find available stuff is by checking the Items for Sale forums and the UMA trading thread, but that's obviously limited to stuff actively being offered, and makes it harder to find specific things. You can do a forum search for them, but otherwise it just comes down to like... keeping your fingers crossed, and quietly being resigned to never actually getting the accents you're Yearning for. Pensive emoji.

His Majesty is Excellent. I hc that after everything, Astarion goes back to Last Light and they adopt each other. His Majesty is just, yes, good, finally someone recognises my worth. (Meanwhile, my Durge is back at Moonrise begging Steelclaw for forgiveness. What an icon. You hunt that slug, bby. I may also hc that His Majesty and Steelclaw are littermates.)

Right? I actually wonder if that's intentional - if the first living being Durge can meet is so representative of what showing empathy and choosing kindness can do. They have no memories, they want to cause harm, but can make the deliberate choice not to; later, that choice is rewarded with someone who's broken free of their destiny. I don't think it's accidental that you meet Us again in the colony, which is where Durge can start learning much more about themself (meeting Kressa, the Prayer for Forgiveness, the first sight of Gortash and Orin). Gosh this game is good <3

@ryttu3k Yeah, it's. Forsaken is a lot. It's a Tavless novelization that really cracks open all of the origins and bounces them off each other like bumper cars. It also restores a bunch of abandoned EA plotlines (Daisy and all the tadfools dreaming of their abusers instead of the Dream Guardian, Halsin being the one who killed Isobel, EA!Wyll and his relationship with Mizora... and also has her properly turn him into a devil and explores what that means, one of the latest chapters had Raphael spirit Wyll away for a dinner proposition and it was awful), visits more recurring side characters whose arcs play off the main characters' arcs (so you have Barcus, Mayrina, Rolan, et al, but you also get Varrl for Lae'zel, Brynna and Andrick for Shadowheart, Rugan for Karlach, Abdirak for Astarion, and who knows what else she has planned.) More camp pets. More camp scenes. Gale and Shadowheart debate religion. Astarion repairs Clive while Karlach foists a new teddy bear onto him. Lae'zel and Wyll lead tiefling kids in competing dodgeball teams at the Grove party. It's basically everything I ever wanted out of a fic. But then again, I'm a sucker for longfics. The more chapters I see waiting for me, the happier I am.

God, yes. It's one of the best performances of the game, and this game is not wanting for powerful performances. You and me both, I've been through that scene maybe four times and I still cry. ”Is that it, then? I've killed the man who ruined my life, and now I crawl into a corner and die...? AM I EFFING MISSING SOMETHING?” Hhh. That delivery gives me chills. Beart deserves so many awards.

Steelclaw! Begging a thousand pardons for forgetting his most noble name. Did not forget that Durge moment, though, yikes. A thousand wriggling mindflayer larvae for him to conquer, too. I would love it if they were littermates. And wow, yeah, Us showing up at the colony, where Durge is revisiting their past life in all its horrors, both (ostensibly) in control and as a victim to what they set in motion... that makes it all the more meaningful that in this horror show of their own making, they can be visited by a kinder decision they made, too – a proof that the person they are now is real and has an impact too. Instead of husked-out victims and illithids and necromancy, they meet something that brightly calls them savior, and friend.

I'm convinced this game was originally conceptualized for Durge and Tav was made a separate option when they decided to go full-bore with making Durge a murderous depraved Bhaalspawn beyond what all audiences would comfortably stomach. Certain areas of the game are just so much richer with Durge where they're just incidental with a Tav.

I just saw that! Actual communication is happening! In a really terrible way, but at least it's communication! Vampire lord Gale is such a concept, I love the interlocking ways he's been changed by his situation against the parts of him that remain unalterably Gale. Good night, thank you for indulging me, and don't do anything I wouldn't do (which means staying up until the wee hours of the morning reading fic is totally on the table.)

@ryttu3k Shadowheart <3 What a gorgeous Selunite Shart she makes - that pose on that scene is beautiful, and it's like Selune's Spear of Night is lightning the way (through the darkness of those petals, Shar's lingering history.) I also really love how you used the chitin breastplate - that's often a tricky piece to use, but here it's all shiny moonsilver without the buggy bits. I've got a new arrival of my own, actually - and he is [i]so pleased[/i] to introduce himself...
