Yes, there's absolutely no reason to be nervous about basic genes. The challenge to "fully" gene a dragon might be fun with G1 projects, but there are occassions where basic is the perfect gene :)
I'm actually obsessed with basic, because it seriously looks best in so many cases. I'm starting with one of my favourite combinations: double basic dragons with Stained as a tertiary!

White basic is one of my favourite examples where a colour looks best without any genes - every gene brings in shades of grey, and I just want the primaries to be plain white?

Same goes with Black, Obsidian, and especially Abyss! They can look so good and perfectly alright in so many cases.

Fai, one of my oldest dragons, doesn't have a tertiary. Yes, mainly aesthetically, but I came up with a lore reason: his tertiary is Shadow, and so it's a symbolic thing of him hiding the shadows within his heart, so that they literally aren't visible.

Last but not least, my custom progen Cloudwhisperer has been fully basic from the start. He just doesn't look as perfect anymore whenever I scry him with any other genes!
