I love rescuing fodder G1s, but it's such a money sink! I recently finished my plans for Sheen here--she was only 10g on the AH as basic fodder, but I spent way more than that to get her gened up. Worth it!

I'm usually very project-oriented and very particular so rarely buy fodder to keep but this one was so pretty I had to. Even if I have mostly covered her up with apparel haha.

Sometimes it is fodder pairs that introduce you to really good colour and gene combos you would have otherwise never thought of using. In this case though, I didn't even need a project with it.

I have saved lots of beauties from exalt for my projects and lore\fan dragons, but the luckiest one I think is this fandragon. I have been searching for such XYX Denim-orange secondary for very long, and suddenly I saw this one for 5 gems on AH, and I bought her quickly and breed-changed and gened up and was happy with ending such long search.
She has Arcane eyes, but... the Arcane matches the character the fandragon based on so much so I go fine with it.

This is part of the reason I sell pretty much all my hatchlings at fodder prices instead of just exalting myself. I never know if someone will see a combo that I'd dismiss, but they absolutely love.

when i bought this dragon she had a description that read something like "it's ok to exalt, but please name first!" and i was like "ohhhh nonono, she's not getting exalted, i can work with this"
she's now one of my favorite dragons in my entire lair! she makes me so happy.
