Vorapora are a subspecies of Undertide who removed themselves from the self-impoosed exile of their scorned progenators. Instead of remaining in The Deep, these Undertides explored the oceans of Sornieth and made their homes in various climates (temperate, polar, and tropical waters). While some are more social than others, most of them are still friendly toward the Maren beastclans who share their habitats, as well as other marine fauna, though it should come as no surprise that Vorapora still need to feed, and, being primarily carnivoristic, they do prefer some marine species as their food source, but they have no qualms feeding on marine plantlife if necessary.
Vorapora who form swarms are aggressively protective of one another, stopping at nothing to hunt and attack creatures who offend or assault members of their swarms (much like bees and wasps). They are some of the fastest creatures in the water and out-swimming them is almost a non-option.
There is no social hierarchy structure amoung Vorapora. They operate collectively, migrating together when their instincts tell them to and raising their offspring communally within a swarm. However, less social Vorapora, like those who reside in polar climates, will viciously protect their offspring right up until they reach physical maturity, at which point they will drive their own offspring out of their territory to fend for themselves.
Vorapora normally make their burrows as deep underwater as they can, provided they can still survive comfortably in the temperature of the water and a suitable burrow can be found or made. They prefer rock formations where they can lay their eggs in a shielded pocket, but will sometimes settle for coral reefs or seaweed beds if no better accommodations are available.

As stated previously, most Vorapora are still quite close to their Maren neighbours. Vorapora will not feed on Maren species, though they may still be territorial around them. Vorapora often engage in trade with Maren beastclans, mostly for attractive objects and trinkets with which to decorate their burrows. These can be anything from shiny rocks and gems to items with a more defensive use with which to defend their eggs and offspring. In exchange, Vorapora offer their colourful scales and food they hunt and gather that the Maren may not be able to obtain otherwise.
In tropical Vorapora swarms, Maren are often found amoung them, even accompanying Vorapora fledglings and guarding their eggs while the swarm is out hunting. When a Vorapora swarm migrates, Maren will collect anything left behind in their burrows to recycle and reuse.

Vorapora species variants are dependent upon the climate in which they reside. The surrounding temperatures and available food sources determine Vorapora behaviours and habits, and even physical characteristics. For instance, the Pufferfish trait is more common in colder temperatures, while it's near impossible to find Vorapora with this trait in more tropical climates.

Temperate Vorapora are considered the "standard" specimens of the species, as they are the most common overall and can be found in most parts of the world where open water temperatures range from 32°F and 72°F. Their colour patterns are reminiscent of those found on the seafloor and some colourful species of coral, but they appear designed to mimic their surroundings in some way or attract their prey with specific patterns. They are not known to be exceptionally bright-coloured, as this would draw too much unwanted attention from within their habitats. While they are excellent predators in their own right, there are other, larger species who prey upon them, so they have evolved to be able to blend in when necessary.
Vorapora in temperate climates are moderately social and curious creatures, often venturing to the surface of the water to investigate unusual shapes, movement, or sounds. While they should never be approached carelessly, it is not uncommon to be able to touch these Vorapora while they familiarize themselves with you as a foreign creature. Should they decide you fall into the "tasty meal" category of new discovery, however...it's best to use extreme caution and be prepared to defend yourself and/or take flight at a moment's notice.

Polar Vorapora reside in cooler waters, primarily around the southern ice shelf of Sornieth where temperatures tend to average around the freezing temperature of salt water (approximately 30°F). Due to the distinct lack of colourful flora to mimic, these Vorapora are coloured in such a way that allows them to blend in with the depths of the water, along with some alluring accents to help attract prey.
Polar Vorapora are decidedly less social than their temperate cousins. They have exhibited solitary predatory patterns, driving others of their kind out of their territory and even going so far as to attack one another. Needless to say, they are no more friendly to other creatures who encroach upon their territory. Anything can be considered food to them, considering how scarce it is to come by in their environment.

Tropical Vorapora are the most friendly Vorapora variant and are known to form close relationships with other marine species, even sharing burrows with them. Tropical water temperatures range around 70°F, but the warmer the better for these slimy, eel-adjacent dragons. They have been observed "sunbathing" at the water's surface, either directly below it or floating atop it. Their brightly-coloured bodies help them fit right in with other tropical marine species and plants, as well as serve to ward off other predators and scavengers who might spot them in feeding or sunbathing in the shallows.
Vorapora in the tropics behave as closely to real-world dolphins as a dragon could. They move in groups called "swarms", though the numbers within those swarms aren't as many as one might think. They normally don't exist six or seven with the occasional batch of offspring to accompany them. They welcome other creatuers into their swarms such as cleanerfish and remora, their demanding diets attracting them to far larger prey.

While not a variant of the same species, Venapora are an example of convergent evolution wherein these dragons have evolved to look extremely similar to Vorapora with the singular aim of hunting them. Venapora are the natural predators of Vorapora and, unlike their doppelgangers, possess venomous bites that paralyze their prey.
Using their clever disguises, Venapora will invade Vorapora territories and swarms, typically with learned mating signals or the like to convince them they are one and the same, and then they will feed on unhatched or fledgling Vorapora offspring before vanishing back into the ocean depths. Venapora are slightly smaller than Vorapora and thus quicker and more agile, allowing them to easily swim into Vorapora burrows and escape undetected. Their colours match the typical patterns seen on Vorapora in their respective climates to further establish their malicious illusion.
