THE BEGINNING
“At first, there was only light, blinding anyone that dared to gaze at it…”
Centuries ago, on the day of a total solar eclipse, right as the moon overshadowed the sun, a blazing light enveloped the sky. Thousands of eyes belonging to the inhabitants of the earth below turned to the light, attempting to watch what was transpiring. Alas, the fragility of their eyes could not withstand the burning brightness of the sky. After what felt like hours, but was accurately only minutes, the light faded, and in its wake were strange beings resembling dragons. They admitted a faint glow from their bodies, halos of light always seemed to appear around their heads, their auras were eerie and their bodies were almost immaterial to the touch, and their multiple wings and eyes exposed how truly unlike dragons they really were.
Numerous years after this event, dubbed the “Dawning Day,” nobody really knows what happened that day. How Angelics honestly came to be.

Welcome to my new subspecies, Angelics! My last subspecies focused mainly on lots of variants, so I thought I’d try to do some more in depth lore with this one. This subspecies is open to all Flights and Modern Breeds, and I do intend to add Ancient Breeds later on. I’m subscribed to this thread, but I don’t mind pings, especially if you want to show off your lore or outfits! I love seeing that stuff ^^

“Angelics… What a strange bunch they are.”
Angelics, now having been around for centuries, have been studied relentlessly by curious dragons. They still have not found out the true reason why Angelics were created, but they did discover the many odd habits, personality quirks, and magical abilities they possess.
Silent
Angelics are strangely quiet beings. Ones that are completely silent were there for “The Dawning Day,” unwilling to speak about their true origins. Other Angelics will speak in grunts or short phrases, and some will speak full sentences, though not long enough to hold conversations. The amount an Angelic is willing to verbally speak is different between them all, so much so that some Angelics can even be chatty, to an extent that a good amount of dragons would call them annoying. Silence is important to Angelics, even to ones that enjoy a good conversation.
Wanderers
Angelics are inherently loners, seemingly never seen in groups, or settling down in clans. They’re most likely to be seen drifting from place to place, never stopping for too long. They’ll pause in towns or cities, barely spotted socializing with local dragons, occasionally checking shops for their wares, before they leave again and begin their trek to their next destination.
Getting an Angelic to settle for good in a clan, town, or city is a rare feat. It has yet to be discovered what truly makes them enamored enough with a place for them to pick it as their journey’s end. Many clans, those who revere Angelics as higher beings, will try their best to draw them in, handing out gold, jewels, food, clothing, and anything else they’re able to offer, to any Angelic that decides to stop by. These clans almost always fail at drawing in Angelics.
Even though Angelics have an innate sense of being alone, not all of them follow it. There are Angelics that enjoy the company of others. The problem is, many dragons do not understand them, and is the reason why it’s so rare for them to join clans or towns. But, there are Angelics that will build their own homes. Some Angelics will form groups with one another, find a nice empty spot for them to stay, and build up their own clan. A few of these Angelics will still wander away from home every now and then, often with other Angelics from the clan, but they will always return.
Pacifists
It’s rare to see Angelics pick fights, or finish them if they are started by another dragon. Angelics would much rather settle things peacefully, either by walking away from the fight or, for those that are more open to speaking, talking it out. Angelics are rarely seen harming other dragons or creatures. Despite this, dragons that fear or hate Angelics believe that to be false. Rumors have been spread that Angelics are dangerous, and dragons should never approach them. Because of this, the few Angelics that aren’t pacifists have a much harder time mingling with dragons, and are much more likely to wander alone, or settle with other Angelics. Angelics that aren’t pacifists are not judged by Angelics that are.
Content
Angelics are never greedy. They are never seen with more gold or food than what they need. Angelics are almost never drawn to materialistic things. The exception: items that hold sentimental value to them. Whether it be souvenirs from the many places they have traveled, keepsakes from dragons or other Angelics they have bonded with, or even just an odd rock they found while traveling. Angelics will carry lots of items some dragons would see as useless, but hold value to Angelics for many different reasons. Angelics are almost always seen with these important items on their body, cautious to leave it anywhere they could lose them.
ABILITIES
Angelics hold many different abilities to that of a dragon. These abilities are still being studied, as Angelics seem to be weary of using them. Or, they just see no need to.
Healing Aura
The aura that Angelics produce, the glowing light surrounding them, has healing properties. This aura’s healing abilities vary from Angelic to Angelic, some having the ability to relax dragons, other’s being able to fix small cuts and bruises, and then there are Angelics able to take care of large, fatal wounds.
Barriers
Angelics are able to produce thin, transparent barriers that are able to protect themselves, and others around them. These barriers vary in size, but they can be no bigger than the Angelic producing them. They can also only appear close to an Angelic, unable to move anywhere other than near themselves.
Natural Enhancement
Angelics are connected to the nature around them. Though they cannot grow greenery on a whim, they’re able to enhance the nature around them, if given enough time. Wherever an Angelic decides to settle down, the natural flora will begin flourishing better than ever. Anywhere an Angelic stops, for even just a few weeks, will end up with thriving plant-life. This is another reason why some dragons are so eager to have Angelics join their clans.
Future Sight
While dragons refer to it as “Future Sight,” Angelics can’t actually see the future. Angelics are able to sense disasters that are soon to happen, whether that be minor occurrences, such as scuffles between dragons, or deadly, natural disasters. For more dangerous situations, Angelics will often warn dragons nearby. This led to dragons assuming Angelics could see the future, and while it has been disproven, there are still some that believe it.

ANCIENT VARIANTS
Ancient Angelics were the first to appear on The Dawning Day, though they never mention this phenomenon. The way they act is no different from any other Angelic, and if not for their wildly varying appearances, they would easily be mistaken for them. Ancient Angelics, being the first Angelics to ever exist, have a much closer bond with their magical abilities, and are able to control them in different and fascinating ways. This takes shape as multiple halos surrounding their frames. Because Ancient Angelics were the first to ever show themselves, they are very sought after for information, but, just like any other Angelic, they never reveal the secrets of their origins.

Crowned Angelics are most known for large horns and flowing manes. While other Angelics mostly have feathers scattered across their bodies, Crowned Angelics have fur. The feathers they do have show in small clusters, usually around their wings, tails, and legs. Crowned Angelics’ fur is highly sought after, though no smart dragon would dare end one for their fur.
While all Ancient Angelics have a deeper connection to nature, being able to control it much more than other Angelics, Crowned Angelics specifically deal with flowers. It’s not rare to see large patches of flower fields wherever Crowned Angelics have been to, some enjoying flowers so much they even decorate their bodies with them.

Angelics with these eyes have an easier time blending in with dragons. They’ll commonly have fewer wings and eyes than other Angelics, and their halos and glows can only faintly be seen. They are still noticeably different from dragons, but those with these eyes are the closest Angelics get to resembling dragons.

| Innocent | Pastel |
Angelics with Innocent and Pastel Eyes have a different healing aura to that of other Angelics. Their aura, instead of healing wounds, calms and soothes. Angelics with Innocent and Pastel Eyes also hold more wings than the average Angelic, with the feathers enveloping said wings being much fluffier as well, almost as if they were given softer wings in order to help sooth others more.

Swirl
Angelics with Swirl Eyes tend to be the odd ones out from the typical Angelic. They’re often loud and boisterous, a little too eager to pick fights, and will willingly attend the Festival, loving the attention they get, though they would still do without the extra gold and jewels.

While many believe that Angelics bring good fortune, there are some that think the opposite, specifically for Angelics with Faceted Eyes. Rumor goes, that if you see an Angelic possessing Faceted Eyes, your life is surely to be fraught with misfortune and bad luck. Though only a rumor, there are dragons that try their hardest to stay far away from Angelics with Faceted Eyes.

Angelics with Dark Sclera and Goat Eyes are rumored to not actually be Angelics at all, but mimics trying to sneak their way into clans to cause trouble. This rumor is false, but there are many dragons that still believe it, thus leaving Angelics with Dark Sclera and Goat Eyes to have a harder time befriending dragons, so much so that most won’t even try.

Angelics with Glowing Eyes and Bright Eyes are the brightest of the bunch. Their halos are blazing lights, the glow emanating off their bodies so bright that many dragons can’t stare for too long, or else they end up blinded. Angelics with Glowing Eyes and Bright Eyes can control their brightness, usually while around dragons, but they don’t bother when they’re traveling alone, or are with other Angelics, who are able to withstand the light. These Angelics are usually the most sought after for festivals.

While all Angelics have multiple eyes scattered across their bodies, Angelics with Multi-Gaze will have the most. These Angelics are seen as being more intuned with their origins, commonly donning apparel that shows eclipses and bright, blue skies. Angelics with Multi-Gaze know exactly how they came to be, even if they were not the first ones to appear. Though, they still will not speak the truth of their origins.

Angelics all have differing styles of clothing they choose to wear. It’s common to see wildly different outfits worn by Angelics. But, there are a few fashion choices that are common among them. Angelics are drawn to anything with feathers, as it resembles their own plumed wings. They also enjoy any clothing that is light and doesn’t cause much hindrance to their wandering, like silks, simple jewelry and trinkets. Lots of Angelics are fond of nature, and thus wear apparel that shows that. Other Angelics, those that are especially silent, like to cover themselves in cloaks and guises. Angelics also love the stranger apparel choices, those that are magical in nature, those that produce smoke and light, and those that other dragons would be put off by.

“It’s finally Dawning Day! I wonder if we’ll get to see an actual Angelic this year…”
The Dawning Day Festival, set on the date the Angelics appeared, is a day for celebration among dragons that revere Angelics. Believing that Angelics give good fortune, luck, and protection, these dragons hold an extravagant Festival in their honor. String lights will be hung all around, banners will be displayed with bright, blue skies, and shopkeepers and business oriented dragons will produce all types of paraphernalia, displaying eclipses and clouds, for dragons eager to show their love for Angelics. Later in the day, a big parade will be held, where dragons will play live music and show off their talents, in hopes of impressing any Angelics that decide to attend. Of course, it is very rare for Angelics to show up, as the lavishness of the Festival doesn’t do a very good job at drawing their attention. Though, the few times Angelics have decided to show, they’ve been showered in gold, jewels, food, clothing, and anything else the dragons could offer. The Angelics attending do not keep everything, but they may hold onto a few trinkets to remind them of this day.
Angelics that don’t attend these Festivals, but still hold a deep connection to “The Dawning Day” will celebrate in their own ways. Angelics that wander alone will halt their journeys and watch the skies, not budging until the sun has set and the moon has climbed high into the sky. For Angelics that forge clans for themselves will hold a celebration of their own. Though not nearly as extravagant, there are Angelics that also enjoy decorating, so there will still hang banners of blue, clouded skies, and lights so bright Angelics are the only beings that can withstand them. These Angelics will celebrate in many different ways, all varying amongst the clans, but it will always end with them gathering together to watch the sky, same as if they were alone.
