Even though Blaze is no longer the clan's only light dragon, he is still the only representative, and doesn't really mind it. Although his mate, one of the clan's water reps, is still not very comfortable in her position, Blaze feels rather comfortable in his. He is calm, collected and intelligent.

He spends most of his time travelling the land, preaching to massive crowds and converting people, or at his massive commune where the inhabitants live a free and natural lifestyle with the only rules being no technology, mandatory partner swapping and no contacting outsiders. Sunbeam seems like a kindly and gentle person and his religion seems harmless, but people who have left his cult come out broken and traumatised and tell stories of his manipulative and controlling behaviour. These creatures are produced by a giant tree that is the soul of the forest and all light creatures are parts of that soul. Ori is charged with maintaining the forest’s ecosystem by keeping out dangerous intruders and destroying corrupted light creatures. To help him, the tree has given him the ability to absorb the souls of corrupted light beings after he kills them to power up his abilities. Ori used to help the light creatures out of kindness and loyalty, but the gradual increase of his magical power given to him by absorbing souls has gone to his head. Now, all he wants is to absorb more and more souls to get more powerful, even killing and absorbing non-corrupted light creatures to feed his hunger for power. The tree is dying because of the loss of so many parts of its soul and can no longer stop him as he decimates the population of the forest, and there’s no chance of him stopping himself because he’s too far gone. People are strongly advised not to travel during the winter solstice or at night, and if they absolutely must, they are advised not to get lost. If they do, they will soon see bright lights floating in the darkness. These are Angel’s candles and they act as her eyes. Do not follow them under any circumstances, they will lead you directly to her and you will never be seen again. People have many stories about what Angel is, an avenging angel sent to punish the guilty, a demon masquerading as an angel to frighten people into turning against their gods, a sorceress who leads a pack of evil spirits on a wild hunt at midnight, the ghost of a martyr who had her eyes torn out by her prosecutors. Angel could very well be any of these things, no one has ever seen her and lived to tell the tale, no one knows where she and her brother came from. The legends of them are ancient, but the gifts and the deaths could be attributed to other, more mundane sources before. Now gifts magically appear without being secretly given by anyone else and deaths happen where the bodies are never found, even when the snow melts. Something very strange is happening.
