Biography
Constantine
Born into a clan of prestige and a bloodline of nigh nobility, Constantine was destined to a life and job of similar rank even before he hatched. Primal eyes and prestigious pedigree guaranteed him a place in training to be an ambassador for the Light Flight. And train he did for quite a time under the watchful eyes of his parents, teachers, and, on rare occasions, the Lightweaver herself. To call his life sheltered was an understatement. Then one day he was sent out to do his duty, to be an ambassador and voice of the Lightweaver abroad. Suddenly he was alone and left to his own devices, armed more with knowledge from books than experience. It was a rough process but Constantine did eventually find his footing in the world, speaking with the leaders of other flights and representatives from the beastclans to broker alliances and treaties. Had it not been for the storm Constantine would probably never have left his stuffy noble life.
Constantine was flying North when the storm hit, flying from a meeting with The Archanist to another with The Earthshaker. Thinking he could make it, and not seeing how bad the storm would become, he pressed onward through the Crystalpine Reaches. By the time he realized what a danger the oceans of rain and buffeting winds posed in unfamiliar terrain he could hardly see a claw in front of his face. He called for help, for someone to tell him where would be safe to land, where he could fly that wind would not send him careening into a stone spire. What he saw was light in the darkness ahead of him, a spot of golden light bobbing and weaving in the torrential rain. A voice called out for him to follow and so he did, deciding to take a chance with a stranger rather than a chance with the storm. This light guided him until he could see a larger light ahead, the light from the entrance to a lair. In this entrance he found a lovely skydancer shaking the water from herself, a skydancer with a lantern shedding golden light worn upon her tail.
Lila had taken one look at the gaudy attire of her new guest and figured most of his situation in a few moments, whereas Constantine had never been in a lesser lair before and was not quite sure how to act in front of his beautiful savior. Lila flicked some droplets from her tail and led him inside, "You're showing yourself to be a fool, trying to fly in a storm like that. Be glad your pride wasn't enough to keep you from calling for help or you'd likely be broken against the spires by now." Constantine, defeated and drenched, attempted to defend himself, “Madame I may owe you my life but must you hound me for living in a future I could not foresee and weather I cannot predict?" Lila stopped then and looked back at him, "Only because you didn't think to look for stormclouds, now come along. You'll need something to warm you up after that and Lyric makes a magnificent hot chocolate."
That conversation, though Constantine didn't know it at the time, was his first with his future mate. Lyric indeed made her best batch of hot chocolate to date that evening, leaving Constantine very impressed with her cooking skills, and uncomfortable being out of his depth in informal social interactions. He did his best, and found a comfort in the companionship of the dragons proving to be very gracious hosts. The next morning, with Aquamarine to show the way, Constantine set out for a meeting he was now very late to. When his schedule allowed for it again, Constantine returned with a gift of thanks, then again with a gift of friendship, and yet just to visit. Lila found herself awaiting his visits, and Constantine found himself looking for ways to fit them into his schedule. Eventually, inspiration struck him, and he met with the Lightweaver to present a request. He proposed that he might be assigned to the territories of the Archanist as a permanent ambassador for the Light Flight. The Lightweaver flitted about the idea, considering, then denying, then considering again, not seeing it's usefulness until she finally prompted Constantine into revealing his true reasoning for his request. It was only then that she granted it, laughing at Constantine's bashful bearing of his heart.
The clan welcomed Constantine's more frequent visits, especially Lila. Though it was still some time before the two finally chose each other as mates, the whole clan knew it was bound to happen. Eventually, Constantine approached Tetti and Yael about officially joining the clan, and was met with enthusiastic affirmations. Though the clan is still small, and the lair rather far from the observatory, Constantine doesn't mind a long flight if it means he gets to stay with this new family of his. His parents were rather displeased with his choice, such a small clan, such a short lineage, but they still begrudgingly visit. No matter, Constantine knows them well, and he knows that they won't stay so cold forever. In fact, he already thinks they've warmed up to Lila, its only a matter of time before Lyric's excellent cooking convinces them with the rest of the clan too.
[Familiar swapped because it was awakened, and will be back when others are awakened]
Constantine's familiar is a joyous little sparkle nymph who has been with him for nearly his whole life. It was a gift from his parents, a rare pet to suit the lofty prospects of their child. The two grew up with each other, and each considers the other their dearest friend. The nymph accompanies him everywhere. When Constantine is feeling upset, the familiar will decorate the ceiling of Constantine's quarters with the sparkles it collects, as if to mimic the twinkling stars outside. Constantine always makes sure to keep one of his pockets empty for his companions use, whether for storage or a nap.
