My entire lair tab titled "The Entities" are also not dragons. I have not finished their lore yet at all (Still working on the Plague Heralds) but essentially they are beings that one cannot comprehend, so your brain fills in the blanks, much like when you stare at your reflection in the dark.
This tends to make them look like what is familiar and safe - a dragon. But up close, out of the corner of your eye, or if you stare too long, it begins to unravel.
It's best not to look at them at all because viewing their true forms cause a wide array of mental, physical, and supernatural consequences.
