[item=vial of soft sight] If Bright-eyed dragons are know for their passion and single-minded intensity, one would expect Pastel-eyed dragons to be weak of mind and of will. While some accuse them of that, it is most definitely not true. Those with pale eyes are notably self-effacing and lack ambition, but it is not to their detriment. It is said that their eyes are a window to the heart of the Mother, and their lack of self-interest means that the Mother's will is more clearly discerned by and through them. They are open receptacles, easily understanding and accepting the will of the Mother. Some of the finest Oracles and Sages have been those with Pastel eyes. Servi, Wraiths, and Neutralized Ghouls with Pastel eyes are highly valued by Duelists and Shamans, as their willingness to serve as a blank conduit of Plague makes divination and dueling much simpler. It is from this that they get their undeserved reputation of being weak-willed; however, willingness to serve does not equal weakness, as many will be quick to point out--some with claws and teeth. Ghouls with pale eyes rarely survive very long. Their openness to the Plague devours them quickly, and their bodies rot within a matter of hours, creating newly opened cesspools of festering Plague magic that are hazardous to all but the most hardy Plague dragons. Neutralization must happen immediately if it is to happen at all. Pastel-eyed dragons are not likely to turn to the Shade of their own accord, but they make very poor Hunters or Holy Knights. A pale-eyed dragon caught alone by the Shade or by a Lich is easily corrupted due to the openness of their minds and souls. They make dangerous puppets as long as their master is near, but if captured and separated, they are quite docile. Some are held captive for research; unless their master returns to break them out, they rarely attempt to escape or to corrupt others.

[item=Vial of Soft Sight] Soft Eye Lore: Those with soft, pastle eyes have a natural resistance to the influence of The Shade, as it contrasts that of the Dark Sclera, and are largely benefitial in the fight against Lichs, thus many with this ability are choosen to be Hunters and Holy Knights. Tho it is not unheared of that a Necromancer chooses a different path instead, knowing fully well how benefitial someone trustworthy and free of the shades influences can be in some positions. One might argue that the soft, brighter eyes are caused by the influence of... something else that stands against the Shade and slowly controls the dragons all the same but this has yet to be confirmed by the Necromancer Council and thier investigators. But resistance and immunity are two different things and the possibility of a bright eyes dragon turning to the Shade is still there and shake the trust of everyone with each new confirmed case. Some Lichs keep the resistance to the Shade and stay sane and master of thier own thoughts for a much longer time, they can draw from the shadowy powers with less risks and price, tho even that has its limits and the Shade might become bolder and force them to use more of its strength. It is rumored that a Ghoul with such eyes is highly valuable since the combination of this natural resistance and the raw, uncrontrolled strain festing in thier bodies could be the solution to transfere these powers to anyone else and even enhance them further. If that turns out to be true, the days of the Lichs are numbered. (I am not good at writing, but damn i love the idea!)

Not so with the gaze of those with Pastel eyes. Known for if not a quiet nature nonetheless a quieter, more muted magic, those with Pastel eyes are sometimes called the Soft Sighted Ones, known to observe without being observed themselves. Even their magic is quiet and quiescent under their command - the magic of their birth, as much as the magic they took on in the Trials. Perhaps unsurprisingly, many Pastel-Eyed dragons become Assassins or Spies, well able to slip under the notice of those around them. However, this quietude of their magic serves more purposes than just deception - in such a quiescent state, it is possible for the magic of the newest, still strange variant of the Necromancer strain to be studied. [item=Vial of Soft Sight] Pastel Eyes: It is said that those with Pastel eyes have a lessened connection to their element than other dragons, whether from birth or mishap. Many dragon parents avoid nesting too far from the influence of their deity to avoid producing a child with Pastel eyes. It is for this reason that non-Plague dragons attempting the Trials have a higher rate of infection, being more readily susceptible to outside influence. Whether this is true or not, Pastel-eyed Necromancers and their variants tend to have less overt power to wield than others. However, this does not mean they are weak. Pastel-eyed Necromancers tend to have very fine control over what power they do possess, wielding disease with a finesse that can be difficult for those with Primal or Glowing eyes to imitate. These Necromancers - and indeed, their variants - make for devastating duelists and sought-after infectionists, as their infections can be difficult for others to discover before it's too late. Of course, one would be a fool to think Pastel-eyed Ghouls an easier opponent to tackle, for even the most feral of Ghouls with Pastel eyes can leave lingering diseases that can lie in waiting for years before discovered, when it is far too late.

So anyone following the thread knows - there's a new Dragon For Lore contest up! The theme this time around Martial Strength and it can be found Here.

All the dragons this time around either have been or are in the process of being levelled all the way to Level 25. Winning one of these dragons is both a great boon to you and your clan... and will net you Council Points for having a levelled member of the subspecies. A few of the dragons are also extra interesting, with a Multi-Gaze Lich and an XXX Maroon Ghoul with a fun ID!

As ever, please send entries to @/OzziePhobia for Anonymisation and note that in this round Lore, Bullet Point Lore and Art are all valid entries!
