Creative Corner

I've been wanting to do a drawing or short story a day for a while, but can never seem to stick to it or actually start. I'm hoping that by making this a thread, [s]I'll be held accountable[/s] be able to partake in such a challenge with other people! Anyone is welcome to join in and contribute whatever they want whenever they can. Art or writing, a sketch or a fancy piece, a short snippet or a multi-paragraph saga, it's all valid. This is all for fun and to share what you've made with others. If you can't post every day, or only once a week, it's still nice to try and continue to improve while having a bit of fun with others. The only rules are that you be nice to each other, and respect other people's work! I love your style of art! It looks very hand drawn/painted, but I think you're using a digital medium? It combines the best of both worlds <3 I wrote this lore last night for two dragons that I decided are mates! The sun shines bright overhead, beating down from the blue sky. A soft breeze stirs the sparse plant life. The air is oppressively hot. Yet - there is a stillness all around. Animals grow quiet and retreat into their burrows. The dry, dusty land aches with thirst. On the horizon appears a grey wall of clouds. Ever closer they move, traveling unbelievably swiftly on the scorching summer breeze. Laden with water, they obfuscate all that they pass. First the peaks of the mountains disappear; then their slopes. Soon, all that can be seen beyond the barren desert land is a solid mass of stormcloud. Closer still it moves. The hot air grows humid as it leaches moisture from the storm. The pale blue sky recedes, beaten back by the encroaching clouds. A low rumble of thunder warns of what is to come. A quick breath - and then the storm. A torrential deluge batters the world. The clouds open up and pour forth rain. All is dim and grey; visibility shrinks to a few feet. Lightning flashes overhead, so bright that its impression lingers on the retina. A deafening crack of thunder follows close on its heels. The rain batters the earth, which hungrily drinks all that is offered. Dusty tan turns to the rich brown of fertile soil. Cacti and coarse shrubs eagerly absorb the sky's bounty. The storm rages overhead. Though the day is hot, the rain falls in a chill torrent. At times the wind makes the downpour almost horizontal. The only reprieve from the grey of the clouds which suffuse the world are the brilliant, neon arcs of lightning - now blue; now purple. Their tendrils reach, grasping, across the sky. The drums of thunder accompany the rain's song. This is the mating dance of Monsoon and [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/29819978]Raijin[/url]. Within the storm the Fae flutters around the Imperial. Lightning strikes and thunder roars in time to their pulses. Each beat of their wings brings a new deluge of rain. Ever onward they fly, their forms intertwined, a timeless dance of life and love. As quickly as it arrived, the storm vanishes. The blue sky is nearly blinding after the darkness of the clouds. The wind pushes the grey wall of the storm, making it recede into the background. Ahead, the mountains reach proudly across the horizon. The chillness of the rain vanishes, replaced by a scorching humidity that makes the very air sticky. Wildlife begins to emerge. Small toads sing happily as they pop up from holes in the damp earth. The washes have flooded. The racing rush of their temporary rivers will feed the surrounding desert, enabling new life. Flowers will spring up. Cacti will leaf and blossom. Brown brush will grow verdant and green. The storm brings life to the desert. By morning the land will have grown dry - but this is a hardy land. The plants ask for little in order to flourish. Wow, your writing is so beautifully detailed, and everything seems to come together at just the right moment to form a chaoically perfect dance of words and imagery. Thank you for sharing your lore, I look forward to seeing more of it :)

She's so pretty and I feel like your style fits perfectly with that. What digital art program do you use?

Aaahh, thank you so much for the writing compliments! I started [url=https://www1.flightrising.com/forums/cc/2885697]a forum post[/url] yesterday where I'm posting all of my dragons and their lore. Fingers crossed people like it - but it's also fun to see how much I've written so far! My creativity for today is a little bit different. I taught myself how to crochet late last year and have been having a blast making a ton of different projects. Here's a little pride stingray I made! Sometimes the best sketches show up after not having done art in a while, and a nice wholesome sketch is one of the things I enjoying seeing the most, I love how you did her hair, I tend to struggle sometimes with floofy, curly hair so it's a joy to see others who do it so well :D

TLDR: I use Paint tool Sai

I use paint tool sai, it's good for pretty much anything imo, good customization options for brushes and layouts, and works with most file types eg. photoshop. Easier than Krita to pick up, and cheaper by far than photoshop. Although a good free program, or something a little more versatile would be Krita, cause you can animate as well as draw.

Oh My gosh their so precious! So smol, and absolutely adorable. I tried knitting once, that was disaster of the highest order XD I've gotten into quilting though, so thats fun. They're a wonderful stingray and I can only aspire to be as soft as them.
