Welcome to The Cove. An enclosed bay surrounded by cliffs and jagged rocks, leading out to the sea of a thousand currents. The water glistenes in the sun as the fresh breezy air warms your skin with its touch. The Cove is a sheltered but spacious place, on the edge of the land, far from any inland clans, and protected from deep sea clans by the rocks in the bay's mouth. Not only is the sand warm and silken, but the grass that leads towards the nearing forests is fresh and the shade is cool. Under the sparkling waves which lap the shores serenely lies a generous shallow then a sharp decline to where dazzling sunlight illuminates the otherwise shadowy depths. Huge coral structures at the bottom stare up at you, almost obscuring dark entrances in their midst. Down into the pitch black, far past the winding labrynth of tunnels and caverns, a clan thrives in the home they have made there. A clan who has staken it's territory to be that of this cove and its surrounding perimeter. It is a strange clan, a mismatch of friends and allies who were bound together under special circumstances. They are mostly unrelated by blood, although families have formed through coalition and generations have now passed through it several times. They are diverse in species and bloodline, as well as in viewpoints and personality, although the one thing they have in common is they all wish to live peacefully and happily with everyone.

She turned, her hair suddenly gaining a life of its own, twirling in the air like clumsy ribbons. When she sang, it took their breath away. A whimsical sound, boasting unearthly notes and eerie harmonies she poured her heart and emotion into it, only relenting when her stories had come to an end. Sometimes, others joined in. Other fae's like her mate who knew the language the leader sang in, and together they could move their hearts beyond words. Those who spoke no word of fae didn't need to, for the raw music spoke for itself and they enjoyed the comfort of the feelings the songs brought well enough. Many who had heard of her only in tales wondered how she led her clan so strongly and protected the desired Cove from other clans who sought to steal it, but none could doubt her leadership after seeing her amongst her dragons. For those in her clan had ultimate trust in her and faith that she would lead them to prosperity. They knew that she was the one who could keep their children safe, and they carried out the measures she took to ensure their survival and success. For she was not alone. The clan leader

This was the one they called Orlaithe. She was the clan leader and was described as an ancient soul reborn in youth. Only a couple of decades old, physically she was indeed classed as young, but gazing into her eyes, it was evident she was wise beyond her years. They always looked vacant, her eyes- the tone and saturation of a grey storm, wild and turbulent but somehow always further away than anyone else could grasp.

Her scales were glazed with a glistening azure opal which shimmered like the sky reflected on the ocean. Long dreadlocks the color of the golden sun were twisted into a misshapen bun atop her head, with various white feathers and beads woven artfully into the mess. Tiny bird skulls and bones on string looped from her locks, swaying gently in the refreshing sea breeze.

They knew that she was the one who could keep their children safe, and they carried out the measures she took to ensure their survival and success.

They helped ease the burden of her responsibility and were role models worthy of idolising amongst the clan. Of course, all was not so simple all of the time, every clan has its ups and downs including hers but she worked tirelessly to ensure happiness was the most common atmosphere in the clan.

THE COUNCIL
Twelve highly esteemed individuals who make important decisions regarding the clan

Daire, Orlaithe's mate and best friend. Extremely laid back with a que sera attitude to life, he often gives a level head, rational viewpoint to the conversation and is the first to suggest the compassionate solution to a problem. Another free spirit, he spends his days mingling with the clan members and creating charms or decorations for the lair. Terrible at most things, he prefers to rally the dragons and keep their spirits high and is highly revered by the clan, being thought of as kind and generous. Those who are too shy to speak directly to Orlaithe bring their troubles to him to pass on instead.

Aelin is the clan's most skillful and deadly fighter. She protects the clan from attackers and has proven to be an excellent battle tactician. Intimidating and cold, she's extremely unapproachable and unforgiving and Orlaithe has deep respect for her. She is also the designated trainer for inexperienced dragons who want to improve their fighting skills. Her knowledge of hand to hand combat, counter attacking and weapon usage is unrivalled in the clan and she takes her role very seriously. As well as taking down other dragons, she's also experienced in taking down prey, being the clan's primary meat provider with a team of a few others.

Fiach is Aelin's second in command and is almost as talented in fighting and hunting. He however lacks focus and determination and therefore falls behind in skill. A fairly jovial and insincere person, he never turns down an opportunity to crack a joke, often at Aelin's expense. Good looking and charismatic, many of the females in the clan hope to become his mate but his heart belongs to one person alone. Unfortunately for him, they're too focused on something else to notice, so he flirts with everyone to hide his emotions. A strong asset to the clan, Orlaithe sees him as a valued member of her council and listens to his input during important meetings.

Aqua2.png
Aquamarine is the clan's overly protective mother figure who is not only a great chef but is also the most experienced and talented healer, giving Orlaithe no choice but to let her run the infirmary. In her charge are the rest of the clan's healers and trainee healers are always welcome at her door. She is one of the founding members of the clan and has everyone's best interests at heart, standing up for those who are often overlooked. The children love her and she adores them in return, treating them like she would her own grandchildren, and she's always smiling or laughing with someone.

Riviera is an older fisherman who lived in the area before the cove moved in and has experianced the waters for many years. He is also very grounded and practical, as well as approachable and kind. Cares about his two children deeply.

Genie1.png
Genie is the clan's wildlife expert although she's often sidetracked collecting herbs for medicine or potions which Aquamarine thanks her greatly for. A self labeled herb witch, she claims to work miracles and frequently offers members of the clan potions with supposed beneficial effects. Most have learnt to politely decline after several attempts of potion testings have gone awry, but some are still caught out occasionally and suffer many consequences as a result.
Having travelled alone for years, she decided to join Orlaithe's clan at the Cove after seeing their lifestyle, bringing along her young apprentice who appeared to be a smaller clone of herself. Often dragging home too many plants for the ratio of dragons who actually enjoy plants, the clan is frequently subjected to vegetable soups they don't particularly want to eat. She's scatterbrained and eccentric but kind, enthusiastic and a valuable member of the clan.

Zhaoxia is a wise old man with many years of experience under his belt. Often advising Orlaithe on the best course of action, he also offers Aelin helpful points when she's strategizing a battle or defence system. Much of the clan deeply respect him and his old age, looking at his battle scars with wide eyes and listening to his tales earnestly. He loves nothing more than his wife and children and encourages the young to seek adventure and follow their dreams. He currently spends his time teaching anyone who cares to listen about the world and how things work. A very educated and intelligent being, one would be a fool to ignore advice or warning from this man. He spends most of his time sorting out the finances of the clan, and arranging meetings with traders who want currency exchange.

Raphael1.png
Raphael or Raffie as everyone calls him, is one of three brothers who joined the clan very recently and act almost as bouncers would, protecting the clan's territory and looking terrifyingly strong to ward off potential land claimers. He is the most level headed out of the three and quite the smooth talker when he wants to be, charming the council into letting them join the clan's ranks. Although he looks invulnerable, he's got many insecurities and cares about his brothers more than anything in the world. The clan respect them and trust their safety to them but there is always a feeling of mild discomfort when they're around due to their intimidating presence. However he is trying his hardest to gain the acceptance for himself and his brothers so that they can finally feel like they belong somewhere.
He is also the clan's security officer. He ensures that the perimeter isn't compromised and the caverns aren't caving in anytime soon. He also constantly checks the map of the caverns for inconsistency as and Orlaithe have agreed it is the best route of escape for the clan should they need to emergency evacuate the premises.

Drift is the clan's ambassador who represents Orlaithe when she needs to communicate with the outside world and can't go herself. He is very diplomatic and knows the right things to say.

Silvan1.png
Silvan is a very mysterious, odd man who came from the forest one day and settled down with the clan. He's the main bug catcher and provides many high quality, juicy, crunchy insects for the clan to feast on. He spends most of his time wood carving or preparing emergency kits should a situation arise where they needed to flee without warning. Some think he's crazy but Orlaithe sees him for who he really is, a kind, warmhearted but misunderstood individual. Despite being given the title of a loser by some of the clan's members, he's extremely handsome but deemed too strange to pursue. Is good friends with Genevieve who also knows the forest and is a bit odd. Some say they'll get together in the end.

A network of underground caves connected by winding tunnels makes up the foundation of the Clan’s home providing storage room, sleeping quarters, eating halls and living spaces. Members of the clan generally have their own cave or they will share with a friend or a partner. The caverns are fiercely protected and generally safe to wander for non combat dragons, with secret entrances monitored and the back passages patrolled to prevent intruders.
