Day 348:[item=Dried Fish]
Diedrich took his second son and the only surviving child from his nest before this last, Wolf, out to the sandswept delta. Larkspur joined them and they made a little day of it for 40 battles. Everyone got a level or few, Diedrich is now lvl 12, Larkspur reached lvl 9 and Wolf climbed all the way to lvl 8 and is looking quite dangerous

I haven't dressed LittleRed yet because obviously he needs the Little Red Riding Hood but I haven't seen it in the market place and it's only on the AH for gems at the moment

A string of tiny, dried fish. The amount of salt the Raptorik cook used is almost offensive.

Once more into the breach! LittleRed, Loam and Muslin went to the Sandswept Delta they made it a full 6 battles before dune runners showed up and completely ran circles around them (the dragons are tanky but not fast). We lost Loam but Muslin is now lvl 9 and LittleRed got to lvl 10 so he's rocking a new gene that I just spent a bunch of time flipping fodder for:

I really enjoyed the last edition of 'Lore Appropriate Familiars' so I'm doing it again for more of the dragons! I'm skipping Rey because his familiar is cannon and lore appropriate (Snail Drone I love you)
Ombra and her DreamEater

While she might not be awake often, Ombra goes dreamwalking and when she did she ran into this little fellow. It took a few encounters before the pair trusted each other but Ombra feels like she's found a kindred spirit and often follows her new friend to observe random dragons dreams
Lyra and her Sweetpuff

A bird she saved as a chick when it fell out of its nest, Lyra wasn't sure the sweetpuff was going to survive. There was something wrong with its wing though it didn't appear to be broken. Fortunately, the sweetpuff recovered and while the strange issue with its wing means it will never be able to truly fly it enjoys gliding and hopping around the garden eating pests, and singing songs with Lyra.

When the group finally decided to go back into the tunnels beneath the lair (something they have not really canonically done yet besides corpse removal) Diedrich found this globe! It's not really a pet but he finds it fascinating, especially how small the woods look and can spend hours staring at it. It's not magic so it's technically out of date since the bounty of the elements being made before that but Diedrich doesn't know that.
Bug and her Tufted Leaf Beetle

Bug loves beetles. Admittedly she helps Rey keep insects so that's part of where her love comes from but there's something about a round little beetle she finds very endearing. Tufted beetles are not super common in the tangled woods and she found its amazing facial horns super cool. She spends a lot of time building it little different enclosures
Belina and her Lesser Wisp

Something else from under the lair. Belina isn't sure if it's alive or not but when she stares into the swirling mists she feels like it must be some sort of magical creature. As a mysterious, possibly magical item, from an ancient city it thrills Belina to think this might be the mcguffin to start a grand adventure

....I did a bad. 8 battles in to the forgotten cave I completely wiped the party. It was to two ruinic bats, which is a little dangerous but not impossible especially with how tanky the dragons are. Unfortunately Bug was guarding Boysen and her health went down just a little too much and she died to a crit elemental slash. LittleRed and Boysen were with her and I should have left but the last bat was on low health and I knew they'd have trouble getting the last two battles under their belt so if I could make this one count that would be great. Unfortunately the bat kept dodging and ended up critting on LittleRed too, after that there was no hope for Boysen being lvl 5.
Super frustrating. I try to be careful in the coli but sometimes you need to take risks because otherwise you'll not get anywhere (had a lot of cave lanterns and creeping clusters they ran from to even get those 8 battles done)

So I was going to do a little doodle today but my week exploded in the last few days here so um have some pokemon teams instead? The pokemon picks are based roughly off either the dragons stat layout or their personality/role in the group. As an extra challenge I did try to make these playable teams so both of them are valid OU Gen 9 teams that do pretty okay, I assume they do better when you suck less than I do (competitive pokemon is simply not something I understand overly well esp in moment to moment decisions).
For those not familiar with Pokemon Showdown it's an online site where you can make pokemon teams and fight them against other users. You can also import and export teams. To import the teams to showdown, first click on the name of the team you want to import and follow the link below. Copy the text provided on the page. Then open pokemon showdown and click on the 'team builder' button from there you can click 'new team' after that click the 'import/export button' which will pop up a blank text box. Paste the team information in here and click save. Then pop a title for the team in there. The last thing to do is select OU from the format drop down (it's the first option) and then click the 'validate' button. After you do this you can return to the home page and from the format drop down there select 'OU'. The first team you have saved for that tier will be auto filled but you can change this by clicking the little arrow next to the pokemon line up and selecting the name of the team you wish you use.
Anyways here are the teams!
What Remains - Decently Rounded Team no gimicks
Pivotlocke - Pivot moves on every 'mon, every dragon is willing to jump in and lend a hand if you tag them in
The teams share half their pokemon in common and while I don't have the brain power (or knowledge) to properly explain how to use these teams to their fullest the following is useful info (and if you're not overly familiar with the moves each pokemon has you can click on it in team builder or hover in battle to get a description):
Torkoal (Fisher) is your general starter for the what remains team. Putting him on the field sets up sunny day for Walking Wake (Ombra). His willow wisp burns enemies and lowers their attack stat if you need someone to hit less hard and he can set up stealth rock to damage incoming enemy pokemon if you want
Corviknight (Diedrich) will clear your side of hazards using 'defog', he can also be sent is as a starting pokemon to set up tail wind for extra speed for your team but it only lasts 3 turns so use it well.
Alomomola (MaryLou) is your healer and under the right circumstances is pretty bulky. She can heal anyone in the party by using wish and then switching out next turn with flip turn, or she can heal herself with wish and then protect. Her damaging move does not hit that hard though.
The What Remains team features 2 choice pokemon, Iron Valiant (Muslin) and Walking Wake (Ombra), their held items make them hit hard but also mean that they can only use 1 move each time they're switched out so choose your move wisely!
Your Big Damage Dealers are Walking Wake (Ombra) and Mineor (Ulysses) for What Remains and Pivotlocke respectively. They're not the tankiest pokemon but give them a bit of set up and they hit like a truck.
Final Note: This generation has a special feature called terrastalization or something close to that. It's a button you can click under your pokemon's regular moves. It will give your pokemon a power up and a special 'terra type' this is used on most pokemon to cover their weaknesses (like putting a ground terra type on a water pokemon so they can't get hit with electric moves) but for some (like ulysses specifically) their terra type is to power up their hard hitting moves. You can only use this power up once per match on one pokemon so use it wisely!

That being said everyone made it through, Pen got a level putting her at 15 while after 50 battles Wolf and Fisher had gotten two levels each making Wolf lvl 10 and Fisher lvl 9.
Also while Fisher was rocking a sweet accent he had no sweet duds so I fixed that (I'm such a sucker for the hood items):

I nested before checking pinkerton today so the nest will have to go on tomorrow. That being said there are three pairs that could nest. Larkspur and Penthesilea, Diedrich and Belina, and Lyra and Ulysses. After the dud nest I sort of want to have Lyra and Ulysses not nest again unless they're the only available pair. As much as Belina and Diedrich make some really pretty children, considering Belina isn't exactly an enthusiastic mother I'm going to give her a break on the nests (plus it'd be kinda sad to lose more pretty babies XD) sor Penthesilea and Larkspur it is! I also feel like they're the most inclined to have kids, Larkspur likes being a dad and Penthesilea isn't exactly a doting mother but she does like motherhood. She gets along great with Fisher.
With the holidays I'm not sure how much time I'll have to write so the next story update might be a while but I'll get on it as soon as I've got the time!
