Basic rules:
 • A death in the coliseum = that dragon must be exalted. This is the most essential rule of a nuzlocke.
 • All loot obtained in the coliseum is irrelevant, as is the loot obtained from gathering.
 • There are no restrictions about applying apparel to your dragons. Do whatever makes sense to you. Same goes for familiars.
 • Ping or message me if you take the challenge ;p (you don't actually /have/ to but I'd love to see how it goes!)
 • And, most crucially, all nuzlocke activity corresponds with the loot you obtain daily from Pinkerton's plundered pile!

Optional sentimental rule:
If a dragon reaches level 25 it "retires". It can join the ranks of your main lair.

Drops of Fate:

Food: Coliseum time!
Plants: 10-20 matches
Insects: 20-30 matches
Seafood: 30-40 matches
Meat: 40-50 matches

Hardmode: You must select coliseum challengers in your lair using a random number generator. Then, select the coliseum arena that corresponds to the highest level dragon of that group (For a 'medium' mode, select the venue that is one tier down from that of highest level dragon). If your dragons level up while in an area, you can still stay there for the whole day. You can quit your battle streak at any time to regen health, and flee from battles if it is appropriate. Don't try do 50 matches in a row unless you want a wiped-out dragon!

Materials and trinkets: Flex your creative muscles!

Materials: Do some writing for your nuzlocke. How does your new nuzlocke clan change and develop? What are your dragons like personality-wise? How do they get along? How do they die? Is there an antagonist in this nuzlocke, or are they merely struggling against the forces of nature? Write dragon bios! Make a blog, or a thread for your challenge in the creative forums! Write short stories or paragraphs, or add to one big one adventure!

Trinkets: Do some art for your nuzlocke! Digital or traditional, use whatever medium feels best for you. Draw deaths. Draw dragons. Draw humanized versions of your dragons (if that's your sort of thing). Draw familiars and dragons together. It doesn't have to be that good or elaborate. If you make a nuzlocke thread, post your art there.

Obviously, you might not have time in your day to do something creative. If that's the case, don't worry about it. This challenge is meant to be fun and heartwrenching, not a chore.

Rare drops: Wildcards

Familiars: Buy the cheapest dragon in the auction house of a specific breed. Use a random number generator (between 1-13) to determine which breed you will get! (Optionally: attach the familiar to the new dragon.)

1. Fae
2. Guardian
3. Mirror
4. Pearlcatcher
5. Ridgeback
6. Tundra
7. Spiral
8. Imperial
9. Snapper
10. Wildclaw
11. Nocturne
12. Coatl
13. Skydancer
14. Bogsneak
15. Obelisk

Apparel: Breed two of your dragons. The dragons you pick are up to you. You can also change one of the genes on a dragon, or use a scatterscroll if you are rich and crazy.

Note: You must flip a coin for each hatchling once they hatch. If tails, the dragon is dead and you must exalt it. This is in keeping with the origional Nuzlocke thread's rule, because I really like it.

Battle items: Uh-oh!!!

Flip a coin.
Heads = DEATH STREAK
Tails = Nothing happens

DEATH STREAK rules: Randomly select three dragons using a random number generator. Fight in the coliseum using the "food" rules 10 rounds consecutively (ie. you cannot leave that arena), quitting midway if a dragon dies. If you are using the easymode rules, switch to the hardmode rules for battlestones.

Those are the relevant rules from the original post, however I am modifying the sentimental rule a little bit to make it a win condition: If over half the dragons reach level 25 the nuzlocke is over and all remaining dragons get to join the lair.

Donation Rules:

Day 1: Some background for the dragons: Bitumen: Despite the less then stellar reputation of his species, Bitumen isn't a violent or particularly nasty dragon. His greatest love is knowledge, especially about the Tangled Woods. Having moved there shortly after he hatched, Bitumen claims his knowledge of the woods is only rivaled by the Shadowbinder Herself. He's a good guide for the woods and the fact that he has a personal stake in the matter means he won't go running off any time soon. This is a comfort to the others. Thistledown: Aloof but with a terrible temper, Thistledown is a hard dragon to get along with. She is the one gathered the other two dragons to start the expedition, promising them treasure and glory of being the first to know what has become of the clan that once ran the Sable City. When she's calm she's a skilled negotiator but when she's angry she's an intimidating force of nature. Her true intentions are to find what remains of the clan and ply from them what they know in order to build herself the greatest clan in the entire world. Cobalt: A treasure hunter, ruin adventurer and general adrenaline junky, Cobalt is a dragon who never wants to stop. Her lust is for adventure, not treasure but she tends to keep a few baubles from great adventures, delighting in sharing the tales of danger and daring that lead her to possess them. She didn't need much convincing to join the expedition, although she is convinced they don't need a guide. Not knowing where you're going is half the fun, isn't it? @Himawari

Day 2: Deep in the depths of the Tangled Woods, three dragons wove down a long forgotten path. They were led by a bogsneak that disappeared into the gloom, his sinuous body weaving between the leaves just so, that the only thing that kept him visible was the emerald green of his vest. He looked as if he was up to no good, but since the start of their journey he had proven to be absolutely guileless and the others can grudgingly come to accept that he could no more betray him then a fish could climb a tree. His head popped up from the undergrowth, long forked tongue tasting the air. “Disappearing. The path. Completely over grown, got to do something about it.” “Well then do something about it,” said Thistledown, the skydancer had not counted on traipsing through the woods for any more than a day or two. Something she was kicking herself for now. She had heard stories about the nature of the woods of course, but she had dismissed most of them as tall tales. The underbrush was far too thick to fly in for her. Small as her species was, their wingspan was too wide to weave through the trees. Only the third member of their little expedition had the luxury of flight. A luxury that she was not letting go to waste. Cobalt flitted between the trees, always in sight, scouting the sides of the path for danger or new avenues. Seeing the other two come to a halt, she landed on a tree branch, her ropey body wrapping around it without hesitation. “We could look for it aerially, who knows what else we might find on the way.” Bitumen shook his head, “No use. Overgrown already, if easy to find would have been found. Stick to path. Right direction, scent for old dragon trails. Find it again in a bit.” Wrinkling her nose, Cobalt released her hold on the branch and spooled neatly onto the ground like a length of rope. She hated how Bitumen talked. Sure he was a scholar and his writings were apparently incredible, but his speech was something else entirely. She brushed by him and poked around the underbrush for signs of an old trail. Her front feet sank into the mud and suddenly she disappeared into the ground with a yelp. Acting immediately, Bitumen lunged forward, his head buried in the mud. His stout body strained as he pulled her out of the mire and after a few moments Cobalt emerged, wide eyed and sputtering. “Dangerous place,” said Bitumen as she wiped herself off, “Please follow. Scent tracks firm ground. Many marshes otherwise.” Thistledown watched the whole thing impassively, glad that she had found the restraint not to barge into the unknown like the spiral, who had shaken off the majority of the muck and returned to her place in the trees. Seemly oblivious to his mud coated face and neck, Bitumen meandered forward. “This way, this way. Hope for best.” And so the three continued their slow trek through the woods though the girls began to have doubts that they would ever get where they were going... @Himawari

Deep in the depths of the Tangled Woods, three dragons wove down a long forgotten path.

Day 3: They ended the day at a clearing even though it was only mid afternoon. “Stop here,” Bitumen said, “Good place, better place might not be found.” Thistledown gazed around the clearing with evident dismay. It was mostly dry, though the plant leaves were heavy with water from the morning mists that never truly burned off. Like most other places they had come across, it was damp. “We’re not stopping here,” said Thistledown after she had inspected it. “There has to be a better place, besides there is plenty of daylight left.” Cobalt, visibly subdued since her brush with the mire looked around. “I dunno, he does know what he’s talking about.” Turning on the spiral, Thistledown snapped, “I don’t care. We are not sleeping here, I am not sleeping here. We will continue.” For a moment Cobalt looked as if she was going to argue, but she stopped. “Fine,” she said. Bitumen looked at the other two and blinked slowly, his reptilian gaze going from one to the other. He had stopped for them, after all, he didn’t mind where he slept. So he shrugged and meandered around the clearing until he picked up the trail again. Though the trail came and went, it was easy enough to identify. The clan had a particular scent, metal mixed with magic and heavy duty salves. By all accounts, they had been the place where the medically inclined Dangerbacks had come from, and while the subspecies wasn’t exactly renowned for their medical prowess, they did know their craft well and applied it judicially. While metal and magic were fairly common scents for dragon clans, these particular salves were distinctive. The trail started heading north-west bringing them towards the Wispwillow Grove. It was important to avoid other clans. Many shadlings were quite pleasant but Bitumen knew that Thistledown’s temper would make them enemies very quickly. For the rest of the day, Bitumen led them through the ever darkening forest. Cobalt, long since expended her energy, rested on his back, sleeping peacefully. Bitumen didn’t begrudge carrying the spiral, he knew their kind well and was surprised she hadn’t passed out sooner. Thistledown’s disgust at the woods was becoming palpable. She snapped twigs that brushed her with a vengeance, and grumbled every time her feet sank into the mud. The ridiculous cape she wore was soon mired down but she was too proud to consider abandoning it. “How long until we find somewhere to rest for the night?” she asked. Bitumen didn’t stop, his voice muffled by the underbrush. “Told you, might not. Woods difficult. Mind of own.” “It’s a forest,” said Thistledown, “it doesn’t have a mind. Besides I thought you were an expert. So find us a place to spend the night!” “Did,” said Bitumen, unperturbed, “five hours back. Too far now.” Thistledown growled, a strange sound for a skydancer to make. “Fine, we’ll stop here for the night.” Frustrated with herself, and the woods, Thistledown fluttered clumsily up to a tree. The thick branch she was on promptly broke beneath her weight and send her straight down into the mud. Refusing to be beaten by a bit of wood, Thistledown picked herself up with as much dignity as she could muster and returned to the tree, spreading her weight out over several branches. It was uncomfortable, but it held her weight and would keep her out of the mud. From the ground Bitumen watched, before shaking his head. The skydancer was just asking for trouble but she wouldn’t listen if he told her. As gently as he could he removed Cobalt from his back, draping her like a garland over some low hanging branches. She mumbled something but didn’t wake. Certain she wouldn’t fall, Bitumen settled down himself, wrapping around the base of the tree. The ground there was normally fairly dry, and thanks to the roots, stable. The three slept as the woods shielded them from the moon, and the night mists crept along the ground, bringing dreams. @Himawari
