Its coastal entrance has multiple openings, including one located above the others for dragons who may be more water averse. At high tide, this is the only entrance available without swimming through intense and dangerous surf. While not camouflaged from the outside, a rock just within the entrance bears the mark of the Avarice Clan, and deems the territory as taken. At low to mid-tide it is common to find dragons from the clan lolling about on the sand just within the cave entrance, or paddling in the waves. This one, however, is heavily camouflaged by thick vegetation, and guarded constantly by clan dragons. The enormous hall predates the Avarice Clan but was clearly built for dragons, being large enough to host the largest Imperial easily and comfortably. It is here that most official clan business requiring groups of two or more dragons is hosted. The Elemental Council meet here regularly, and the clans most important dragons spend more of their time here than anywhere else within the lair. The expansive room within which the meeting hall stands is more than large enough for the clan at its current size to all gather together. The Avarice clan is more structured than this, with each individual dragon preferring their own designated private space. As such, since they claimed this lair, the clan has painstakingly constructed individual dens from the limestone that is the primary lair material closest to the coastal entrance. Permanent mated pairs tend to choose neighbouring dens, and some elect to have them linked though most dragons still prefer to maintain at least one space that is theirs alone. The dens all share similarities as clever stone workers are few and far between, and the Avarice clan has only one whose skills they can call upon for this task. However, the dragons tend to add individual touches to their own dens - seashells embedded in the walls, fresh flowers brought in regularly for decoration, or even artistic carvings commissioned from visiting carvers. The dens are constructed on an adult size basis, with room enough for two to three visitors of that dragon's own species plus at least one visitor of the largest breeds. Each den consists of a sleeping space, living space, and a personal hoard. The most coveted dens are the most external as these may have small windows carved into the external wall, allowing a fresh coastal breeze and natural light in. Dens are allocated by the Matriarch, and dragons can be asked to move dens if their status in the clan changes. All permanent members of the clan, however, will always be given a personal den for their own use. How much time they spend there, how they decorate it, and who they allow to visit, is their own business. It enters at a slow trickle on the southern border, through an opening only a Fae could use, but grows steadily faster until it exits in the north east, bubbling down a steep ravine to places unknown. The water is cold, clear, and fresh. It is the main source of water for all clan activities - bathing, swimming, drinking, cooking. Blind fish live in some of the deeper parts of the river, offering the odd snack for seafood eaters, and strange underground plants grow on the banks. Different rooms of the hoard hold different items - preserved food, materials, apparel items, weapons, treasure, and more. Each room has its own hoard attendant, and the hoard master reigns over all of them. Organisation is rigidly enforced and the entire vault is catalogued and checked on a weekly basis. This, after all, is the entire wealth of the clan as well as their insurance in the face of a disaster. If something befell them, the Avarice clan could retreat to the Vault - which is spacious enough for hundreds of dragons to gather - and survive for several years in the heart of their palatial lair.
The Lair

Entrance

The lair is located at the Beacon of the Radiant Eye, within the Lightweaver's own territory. Its coastal entrance has multiple openings, including one located above the others for dragons who may be more water averse. At high tide, this is the only entrance available without swimming through intense and dangerous surf.

Meeting Hall

The main shared space in the lair, and one of the few spaces with its own external entrance separate from the main coastal entrance. This one, however, is heavily camouflaged by thick vegetation, and guarded constantly by clan dragons. The enormous hall predates the Avarice Clan but was clearly built for dragons, being large enough to host the largest Imperial easily and comfortably. An expansive effigy to the Lightweaver crafted of solid gold can be found inside the hall itself.

Dens

The clan that previously claimed the Avarice Clan's lair appeared to be highly social, and all dragons slept and rested in the shared areas. The Avarice clan is more structured than this, with each individual dragon preferring their own designated private space. As such, since they claimed this lair, the clan has painstakingly constructed individual dens from the limestone that is the primary lair material closest to the coastal entrance. River

Vault

The most carefully and extensively engineered part of the whole lair. The Avarice Clan took what was originally a simple, circular room carved into the stone and developed an extensive, multi-chambered vault decorated and strengthened with massive pillars. Different rooms of the hoard hold different items - preserved food, materials, apparel items, weapons, treasure, and more. It was to her fortune that she was Arcane-aligned and wandered in the direction of the Arcane territories - naturally drawn to the strange magicks - rather than deeper into the Plaguelands, as the Scarred Wasteland is no place for a parentless dragon. The young Mirror chanced upon a fledgling clan of just a few young dragons, all unmated and stretching their wings away from their parent clans for the first time. Most were mirrors like her and she fell easily and naturally into her first pack. Amongst the sheltered mountain ranges of the Crystalspine Reaches she learned to hunt and to fight. Her first clan was a transient one, hunting in one place until they ran out of game before moving on. They had no lair, nowhere to nest, no permanent territory. Dragons came and went regularly and few, if any, close bonds were formed. It was a training grounds, a place to develop some basic skills before striking out again and finding a larger, more established, stronger clan on a more permanent basis. In this group Chaos connected with her first mate, a bachelor Mirror called Spirit. She was also courted by a younger, more vicious and likewise ambitious mirror called Wrath. When she outgrew her other young companions Chaos found a greater ambition than joining another clan. She wanted to lead her own, and what was initially a simple, ponderous thought quickly hardened into steely resolve. She needed allies, and she needed her own territory. Taking Spirit and Wrath with her, she went looking for both. The territory she chose was in the Starwood Strand, an ethereally beautiful region of the Starfall Isles. She had a loose connection to the Arcanist so naturally sought his blessing for her first territory; she was Arcane aligned, after all, though her connections to the region were perhaps not as strong as those of dragons born into Arcane-aligned clans. The dark beauty of the Starwood forest appealed though; it was sheltered, shadowed, rich with game and other resources. An ideal place to find your footing and amass your strength. By this time Chaos was young, virile, and already an experienced huntress. In establishing her territory she, with some support from Wrath, began to fend off threats from the Beastclans for the first time. Spirit, less aggressive and effective than Wrath, was already losing her interest as they settled their boundaries, although she laid her first nest with him nonetheless. It was only a few weeks after this that a wandering Mirror from the Viridian Labyrinth stumbled on their new lair, set amongst the trees and undergrowth. After courting Chaos briefly and gaining her favour through an impressive aptitude for fighting Beastclans and shade-infested monsters, both much more significant threats to her now that she had claimed a permanent territory, he quickly and ruthlessly killed both Spirit and Wrath, as well as Chaos' first two hatchlings sired by Spirit. Thus, Maelstrom claimed the Matriarch as his mate, sealing the partnership by siring her next nest. From this nest, their firstborn daughter was named Dissent and given a permanent place in the clan. Her brother, weaker and smaller, Maelstrom also killed. The two Mirrors of the Avarice Clan, along with their daughter, were thus a small but strong group. Dissent, their daughter, ranged widely through Earth, Plague, Arcane, Shadow and Nature territories, quickly becoming an even more talented huntress than her mother. And, although a fledgling clan is always at risk, Chaos and Maelstrom demonstrated enough determination and effectiveness in maintaining their territory, fending off threats, and beginning to establish a small hoard, that when Dissent's travels took her past a Shadow Clan they agreed to establish an alliance. They sent an envoy and gift - the Skydancer named Azrael - to settle permanently with the new young clan. He became their diplomat and with his help new dragons began to arrive, seek an audience with Chaos, and choose to stay. As the clan grew bigger, however, Chaos became dissatisfied with the location of her territory. The Starwood Strand was open, a forest territory better suited to Faes than Mirrors. They were bigger now, stronger, and she grew weary of hiding away in the darkness and the undergrowth. So Chaos, along with the loyal members of her growing clan, packed up their hoard and travelled east until they reached the sea. Here Chaos sought the blessing of a new God, the Lightweaver, and was granted permission to build her lair at the Beacon of the Radiant Eye. They used an abandoned lair as a springboard but as the clan continues to grow, they continue to transform it. The lair grows ever more complex, palatial, and luxurious, and Chaos' clan grows ever stronger.

Biography:
Chaos was hatched from a wild egg, bereft of parents or a clan, on the border of the Scarred Wasteland and Starfall Isles.

They were transients, and while both of his parents are still alive they have since left Maelstrom's hatchplace and joined separate clans. They had been casual, disinterested parents at best anyway; Maelstrom had left them at a young age, and retains no ties to them now. Nor does he bear any ill will against them, though - while some dragons are attentive parents, his upbringing is not uncommon. A loner by nature, much of Maelstrom's early life was spent in solitude. While his mate learned to hunt in a young clan, finding her first two mates amongst the bachelor dragons that joined her, Maelstrom learned to hunt alone. In the dense, dangerous jungle called the Shrieking Wilds he ranged as adolescent and young adult, honing his skills. Mirrors are normally pack hunters but he avoided contact with his own kind, becoming an ambush hunter instead. In his solitude he become vicious, ruthlessly effective, a feared dark shadow amongst the trees. He was clinical in his behaviour, though, never seeming to gain joy from the kill. He hunted to eat, to learn, and received only grim satisfaction and a full belly in return. For a long time, it was enough. As he matured, though, Maelstrom's interest in obtaining a mate grew. He was picky about which dragons interested him, seeking out only other Mirrors, but finding none whom he wished to court in the Gladekeeper's realm. Though not naturally a traveller he cast his net wider, beginning to roam other territories. Earth's dusty plains held little to interest him, but in the Arcane lands he found Chaos. She had recently struck out to form her own clan, two male Mirrors forming her harem at the time. One was weak, his mind softened by Arcane magic, but the other was young and virile. Maelstrom courted her first, his hunting abilities in the Shrieking Wilds easily transferring to killing Beastclan threats and hunting the glowing forest of the Starwood. Chaos was impressed, and once he was assured of her interest, he killed both of her mates with ruthless ease. Wrath, the younger, put up more of a fight but Maelstrom was older, more experienced, and not inclined to give up a mate now that he'd found one he was interested in. Spirit barely put up a defense, and was no protection for his two hatchlings to Chaos either. Maelstrom killed them too and immediately sired a nest with Chaos, cementing his place in her clan. Their first two offspring were hatched a week later, and Maelstrom killed the smaller, weaker male. The female they named Dissent, and gave a permanent place in their new clan. Although Chaos remains the undisputed ruler of the Avarice Clan and Maelstrom does not challenge her superiority, he is a very close second in command to the powerful Matriarch. He is probably a more clinical and effective warrior; Chaos fights with the wild fury of Arcane majicks, unpredictable and reckless to his cold efficiency. In sheer power and steely resolve, though, she reigns supreme. They make a terrifyingly good pair and are given to deliberately seeking out Beastclan and shade-infested monsters long before they become a threat to the clan. Often, they take a young dragon with them, training it to fight effectively - if it isn't killed in the process, though most are. Chaos has not bred with other dragons since becoming mated to Maelstrom and he has never bred with any other than her; they continue to lay nests together occasionally, although only Dissent has been allowed to remain with the clan permanently. Maelstrom is unwaveringly loyal to Chaos and a powerful, essential member of the clan.

Element: Shadow
Familiar: Shadow Sprite
Nirvana
Nirvana followed Azrael as a gift from the Avarice Clan's closest allies, Black Ice. Unlike Azrael, however, he feels deeply connected with the Tangled Woods and to this day continues to worship the Shadowbinder first and foremost. Born in the Driftwood Drag, Nirvana remains comfortable in any of the Shadow regions and is a regular visitor to the territories, where he visits dragons he knew from his time there and pays homage to his dark Goddess. He was only a hatchling when he first left the Tangled Woods but he has spent time and effort to become as connected with his birthplace as he is. If one wishes to visit the Shadow territory they could do worse than Nirvana as a guide. When he slips back beneath the shade he fits in effortlessly, a dancing jester with bright purple eyes.

However, Nirvana is a relaxed, easy-going dragon who does not struggle with spending the majority of his life in a lighter land. Some Shadow dragons can be cruel in their mischief but, although he is fond of tricks and games, there is not an unkind bone in this Coatl's body. Perhaps as a reflection of this he took a Light-oriented mate called Paradise shortly after his integration into the Avarice Clan. They have been closely bonded ever since. Paradise is a serious, introverted dragon who benefits from her mate's easy confidence and flair for fun.

Nirvana takes his role as the Shadow Ambassador seriously, and makes regular pilgrimages to the Tangled Woods to keep abreast of the region and politics there. He is popular both amongst the clans Shadow-aligned dragons and in general. Having originated from the same clan as Azrael he is a close companion of the Diplomat, and a regular confidant.
