Found and raised by The Cult, Phoenix is a relic of a once-great Kingdom. Taken in as an egg, no one was quite sure what to expect. But when he hatched with brilliant, holy red scales than shone like fine crystal, the decision was made to see what he might become. With a quick mind and seemingly endless patience, Phoenix was tutored, and was found to be suitable to work in the libraries.

Brought before Chavi with dozens of other captured and indoctrinated dragonets, he was presented in the grand antechamber, surrounded by murals and tapestries to the glory of Chavi and The Cult. Chavi, pleased by his work and progress, saw fit to promote him, and his climb to glory and power has been neverending since that day. Accompanying The Cult's army on campaigns, he is a living vault of knowledge, with strategies and plans and memories of countless subjects.

His den, perhaps exactly what you would expect from an Archivist, is neat. Scrolls and fine books line the walls on shelves, candles and lamps always available for long nights reading. Enchanted on the inside (like the rest of The Cult) to be far larger, his den is a library itself, although still not much, compared to the libraries of The Cult. Knowledge-seeker assistants flock in and out of his den nearly constantly, bringing him scrolls and books and news from all across Sornieth.

To the best of Phoenix's knowledge, he was rescued from a far-flung heretic clan in the Light Flight. Certainly, that makes sense, so he really hasn't questioned that too much. And the truth? Well... the truth is very similar to that, but that isn't the entire story, really. Phoenix got his personality in an almost 50/50 split between The Cult and his biological family.

Phoenix's biological family was, to put it bluntly, a dynasty of power-hungry maniacs bent on living lives full of the most extreme hedonism and brutality possible. They didn't even really care about the hundreds of dragons under their control, in fact, they regularly took advantage of them for their dark desires. The chief difference between that dynasty and The Cult, which is similarly dark-natured? The Cult has at least some measure of restraint. The Cultists believe in a somewhat more constrained form of hedonism; allowable during certain times and in certain places. If a Cultist spends all their days living a hedonistic life, they are not applauded for that, they are shunned.

Phoenix is living his life on a razor's edge, without him even knowing about it. All it would take is some blood, and he would, essentially, go feral. Centuries of being bred from blood-thirsty killers tends to do that to you. If that ever happened, He would make a fine arena fighter... and nothing else. He should count himself lucky he was not sent to work in a slaughterhouse or as a soldier, for losing ones' mind is rarely a pleasant affair, and it would be such a chore to have to find a new Librarian.
