Asenath

Asenath could never be satisfied when she lacked an answer in its entirety. Whenever there was an unknown factor in something she wanted to know, she went out of her way to unearth everything she could surrounding her questions. She had similar friends who had similar scholarly pursuits. Which was why when one such friend went missing for a time, only to return as a gibbering mess, she felt the need to get to the bottom of what it was that happened to him.

She began to dig. It took time, but she revealed clue after clue. Her friend had come across something he should have never encountered. Like a piece of forbidden knowledge that wasn't meant to be known. No. This was something else.

She worked through his notes and scrawls, trying to make heads or tails of what it was he was after. It wasn't quite forbidden knowledge. No, it was a creature. And what a fascinating one it was at that. She had to carefully conduct her research. While she investigated, she learned more of other victims. All whom had ended up with similar fates.

But even as she learned more, she only ended up with more questions.

Eventually, she came to a point where she felt the only way forward was to seek this beast out herself. It was highly dangerous, but she practically felt compelled. Asenath didn't stop until she encountered that shifting writhing mass of shadows, whose eyes pierced through darkness. Strangely enough, she couldn't remember the full extent of that first contact. She woke up, finding a wound upon her leg.

Things were never the same since then.
