◈ APPEARANCE ◈
The aberrant creature before you is something out of a nightmare. As he lurches toward you, yellowed bits of bone catch the light where his patchy flesh has rotted away. His entire body is wrapping in strangling rose vines. They’re everywhere; blooms spill forth from his throat where the coils are tightest, and a lattice of twining vines constrict limp and broken wings. You realize, with mounting horror, that the cloak he wears isn’t woven plant matter; it’s a layer of his own shed skin, caught in the thorns.
Even so, he staggers closer, and croaks out a friendly greeting.

◈ HISTORY ◈
Brankar was a transplant from the Shrieking Wilds who worked as a hunter for some clan that lived long before Lockjaw was even thought of. One fateful day, he strayed too far into the Leatherwood and found himself trapped in a grove of rare parasitic roses. The last of his life drained away several days after he was ensnared, and he slept there for many years.
Then, in one bright moment, he woke to the voice of the Nature goddess herself;
Come, child, she said with a voice that was thunder and the rushing of water and death by drowning and lichens crawling over broken bones and torn sinew and new life springing forth from night-black earth.
Wake up now. We are not done here.
And so Brankar woke with a purpose; to be a bridge between Clan Lockajw and the Gladekeeper’s children.
