Karat Nerite is a bizarre thing, and that's coming from a sentient disease vector. His eyes are dark as night, glimmering chips of onyx and amethyst that mark him as a child of the Shadowbinder. His attire, however, dictates him as a Golden Mage of the Lightweaver's domain. How he managed to gain such status, I have no idea. But I do know that he is a verified member of the Golden order, and his magic glimmers the color of a sunset rather than a pure light or dark. He is haughty, loud and snarky, always cracking jokes and puffing his chest up like he's the greatest thing to ever walk the face of Sornieth. However, I suspect that beneath all that bravado he holds a deep-seated insecurity and fear that he's not good enough, or that he isn't liked by his fellow Golden mages, or even that both of the deities he draws his magic from hate him solely for the fact that he exists. He lives in fear that the world despises him, and the only thing he feels he can do about it is talk louder and walk taller.
He spends his days toiling away in a magical workshop, creating potions and things from beings with innate light magic in hopes of one day fully transforming himself into a true child of the Lightweaver. He doesn't dare to share this goal with another dragon, not even his boyfriend and protector Gold. He prefers to confide in his familiar, a basilisk named Aline that he found as an orphaned hatchling in the forest. She accompanies him nearly everywhere. Though he would prefer to focus on his work, he also serves as our Light ambassador, simply because Cytagal insisted he do so, and he didn't dare to disobey the Matriarch's command.
