Albert

Albert has a huge respect for the process of courtship and is overjoyed that he gets to make it his career. Most of his job is teaching dweeby men how to showcase their personality properly without being offputting, and helping young men unlearn the gross behavior sold to them by grifters taking advantage of their loneliness. While he’s working, Albert is gregarious and suave, but prefers quiet time in the garden and a nice cup of tea in his spare time. He has somehow managed to turn personal awkwardness and understatement into a reputation for being mysterious and attractive, although his accent is probably doing some of the heavy lifting for him. Albert uses his own personal experience to help his clients find romance: sometimes, a potential partner is just looking for earnest interest and someone who brings something unique to the table.

That was certainly the case for his wife, Poppy. He considers himself extremely lucky to have found her despite his coloration; he found he usually had better luck setting up other coatls with dull parts of their plumage with non-coatls. The fact that she has a white body as well somehow doesn't occur to him.

Family gatherings on his side are always a bit awkward. Albert is having to unlearn some of his notions of social class, and the fact that he settled into a blue-collar Clan who rebelled against their God largely for tax reasons will always be a sore spot for his family. But Albert does what he’s always done about awkwardness: he keeps calm, carries on, and never ever ever mentions the elephant in the room for fear of being rude.

The fact that Clan AXQU has a certain creature guarding their mountain sends chills down Albert’s spine, but he’s met her personally (with friends around) and she treats everyone in the Clan nicely enough despite looking and feeling like a giant shaggy dog-spirit of death, so he’s started to get over his terror of them. Just a little bit.
