This unusual looking Skydancer is the lair’s Storyteller Demi. They keep careful oral accounts of all the myths and legends from the lair and surrounding regions, and can usually be found resting by the fireplace in Pashek’s tavern spinning tales for its customers. Though rarely needed and generally unwanted, Demi also possesses a unique affinity for uncovering secrets and unraveling lies that would have otherwise gone undetected. This occasionally brings dragons looking for guidance to their cave as well as making them incredibly effective at interrogation on the rare chance a dragon with ill-intent makes their way into the Den.

Demi’s unusual fur is actually a rare genetic adaptation that causes their fur coat to grow longer and shaggier around the head, neck, and back. No one is quite sure where or when this adaptation first appeared but it persists in a select few Skydancers and is known to skip several generations before cropping up again. This coupled with the horns and feathered ornaments give them a wild appearance that is oddly contradicted by their smooth and articulate voice. Initial conversations with Demi generally leave a dragon feeling very exposed. They have a way of speaking that makes it seem as though they already know whomever they are talking to better than they know themselves and in some cases that may even be true. Demi’s knack for uncovering hidden information borders on precognition.

One of the few dragons to have lived in the area even before the Draumer Den has established Demi was once a part of a traveling clan of storytellers in the valley below the Den. Over the years, however, the clan's numbers whithered until it was only Demi their hatchling sibling Imed and the head Chronicaller, the leader of the clan, left. Soon though the Chronicaller too passed on and Demi was given the title of Chronicaller and tried to raise their sibling in the same fashion. Imed was always interested in Demi's stories as a hatchling but as they grew older they became more and more engrossed in written text and when they grew old enough they left for the Sunbeam Ruins leaving Demi alone in the valley. In fact, before Argonia and her ship arrived Demi was the only dragon living in the region. They made their living trading herbs, furs, and tales from the valley for stories, rumors, and supplies. Occasionally, desperate dragons would make the journey into the pines in search of the Chronicler's advice. When Demi learned of their new neighbors they grew curious and began to make regular visits to the Den to trade with its residents. Things remained this way for some time until the Fortress of ends incident. After which Demi was fully absorbed in the Draumer Den as a full-fledged member of the clan.

Demi’s only familial connection is their younger sibling Imed and the two are constantly at odds. Unlike Demi who favors the spoken word Imed values written accounts and proven facts and holds Demi and their chosen career in disdain. Demi for their part sees Imed as a willful child ignorant of the true ways of the world. Always welcome to tell stories in the tavern, Pashek’s open nature makes spending time around Demi less of a burden than some of the more private dragons of the Draumer Den. And Argonia, while not particularly fond of having her dirty laundry aired initially, definitely sees the advantage of having someone like Demi around.

Fortress of Ends

It was the Fortress of Ends Excavation that ultimately paved the way for Demi’s absorption into the clan. Before, the clan stood divided on whether or not Demi should be allowed to reside as an active member given her occupation and mannerisms. Then, when many of the more superstitious and judgemental of the clan fled in fear from the supposed curse Argonia brought Demi in to help vet new arrivals. Low on members and lacking in paranoia Pashek recruited Demi to bring some much-needed ambiance to the tavern and hopefully draw some new life to the Draumer Den.
