"Get back in that bed."
![]() Frustrated by the Draumer Den’s lack of medical personnel Able decided to set up shop as the Dens resident healer, more out of frustration than anything else. His timing couldn’t have been better and Able had his work cut out for him. Between the natural dangers of the frigid environment and the near constant stream of trainees passing through, Able’s infirmary is always bustling. Able has a deceptively soft appearance with pale colors and a multicolored mane, few dragons are prepared for the personality that comes with it. Able’s bedside manner leaves a lot to be desired. At best he’s gruff and demanding, at worst he can be downright rude. He runs his infirmary with all the stringency of a tyrant and anyone who thinks they may be able to physically bully the healer into getting their way has another thing coming as Able is also a surprisingly skilled fighter. Raised as an orphan in the bamboo forests of the Reedcleft Ascent, Able showed talent as a wind mage and was trained with the intent of making him a warrior for hire. At the height of his youth, he was sold into the service of a band of mercenaries known as the Palewind Harpies. Many of the jobs Able and his comrades carried out were dangerous and more often than not, questionable in morality. Over time the jobs he was assigned to became more and more dangerous and violent. At one point Able was tasked with dismantling a clan by any means necessary. What Able expected was not what he found. While trying to suss out the best way to take the clan apart Able realized that the clan was full of healers and little else. Able refused to carry out his orders and even fought with his fellow mercenaries to protect the clan but in the end, he was unsuccessful. The healer's clan was decimated and the loss threw Able into a deep despair. He abandoned the Palewind Harpies and began wandering the land aimlessly. Eventually, he crossed paths with a lone wandering healer named Callisto and, upon discovering she was a healer, begged her to teach him the skill. The two traveled for several years before Callisto had insisted she had taught Able everything she knew. The two went their separate ways with Able eventually finding his way to the Draumer Den at the far-flung reaches of the Icefields The Closest thing Able ever had to family was the Palewind Harpies and it is safe to say that they are not on speaking terms. The mercenary band has very strict regulations about leaving the group and Able had not parted with them on the best of terms. There have been a few occasions where Able has crossed paths with the solitary member or two from his old clan but they have rarely ended as peaceful meetings. Able had been of high enough rank to earn a name for himself and his subsequent abandonment was a shock to the majority of the group. With both sides feeling burned and betrayed for one reason or another Able has had to fight or flee his way out of several situations while traveling abroad. Having stayed in the Den longer than he has anywhere else Able has grown a little nervous about what may happen when one of his brethren does finally track him down. The idea of bringing another travesty like the one he helped rain down on the healing clan weighs heavily on him. At one point he did attempt to explain why he should leave to Argonia but she wouldn’t have it claiming that they would fair far worse without a healer on staff then they would from without one regardless of whether they were attacked or not. With Notoriously poor people skills Able has only just begun to warm up to some of his clansmen as something more than a mouthy healer with poor bedside manner. He’s begun to move more cohesively with the clan at large. Though he remains distant it's clear to the others he's come to care for the clan in his own way. The Fortress of Ends Able’s teacher was actually one of the dragons that fled the Draumer Den following the Fortress of Ends Excavation. With that in mind it could be said that Marco’s actions are what led Able to the Den and the timing couldn’t have been better. After losing so many clan mates at once the Draumer Den went into overdrive to try and make up for the loss and injuries were at an all-time high and Marco’s extensive and unusual injuries required near constant supervision in the beginning. Now that things have stabilized and Marco’s condition is no longer life threatening there is still much work to be done for Able. [/font] |
