Biography

Life is short, though I keep this from my children. Life is short, and I’ve shortened mine in a thousand delicious, ill-advised ways, a thousand deliciously ill-advised ways I’ll keep from my children. The world is at least fifty percent terrible, and that’s a conservative estimate, though I keep this from my children. For every bird there is a stone thrown at a bird. For every loved child, a child broken, bagged, sunk in a lake. Life is short and the world is at least half terrible, and for every kind stranger, there is one who would break you, though I keep this from my children. I am trying to sell them the world. Any decent realtor, walking you through a real rubbish place, chirps on about good bones: This place could be beautiful, right? You could make this place beautiful. Tale
When Alabaster first arrived as a trade envoy, gossip led to her swiftly earning the title of 'ice princess'. This was not simply due to her Flight, but rather that her frosty personality - haughty and disinterested - and ethereal looks put her at incredible odds with the majority of folk. Finding no response to their outgoing smiles or friendly waves other than a cold stare or upturned nose, people's interest in befriending her quickly waned.

This suited her fine. She had little interest in personal relationships, and simply wished to conduct her business in an orderly manner such that she could leave as rapidly as possible. Plans changed, however, when she found herself confronting - and rather throttling in the resulting fight - a thief. Alabaster revelled in her newfound talent - to fight takes no words or negotiation, only the pure and physical. Talented fighters are graceful, balanced, elegant.

It is unsafe to fight alone, however, and Alabaster's icy personality has been somewhat defrosted by a begrudging affection for her newfound fellow Guards. She has no immediate plans to plant something new outside of their shared den, but does imagine that a vase of mixed snowdrops, bamboo and nightshade would be quite the sight to see.

Traits
Minerals by the name of alabaster are used the world over as materials for works in an otherworldly white.

It lends its name to descriptors of the colour, particularly describing the unnaturally still; this is thought to stem from alabaster tomb effigies.
