Quiet. The word hung in her mind as she stared up at the dragons around her. Nearly a hundred of them. And across from her, a pair of dragons much like herself. A small dark scaled dragoness, and a larger, red scaled dragon. He watched her with a dark scowl, and the dragoness leveled a gentler gaze on the stranger.
Stranger. Uncertainty. The had no reason to trust her. But the Matriarch allowed her. She grew well and strong within the clan. Her colors deepened and her markings took form. And all the while, she watched the Progenitors. Jealousy. Desire.

She made her move, subtle and sleek. Unaware that they were both well aware of her interest and had, until then, opted to ignore it. She tried to lead him away, to be alone with him. The Patriarch followed her silly little plots and pranks, bemused. The Matriarch watched passively, and greeted him back with open arms every time.
She thought the Matriarch was oblivious. Until the sly dragoness pulled a prank of her own.
She was added to the group before she fully realized what was happening, the Progenitors becoming three.
