Biography
Dazzle
Despite all appearances, Dazzle is not a hatchling, but a fully grown Veilspun; she simply has dwarfism and is extremely small, even by Veilispun standards. She has become nicknamed throughout the land as "the smallest Veilspun", regardless of whether or not she actually measures in as the smallest Veilspun.
But her incredibly small size gives her an advantage in the arena. Dazzle is a gladiator, who fights in the arena for the entertainment of others. In fact, she is one and the same as "the smallest Veilspun" who defeated Gnash on the battlefield, toppling him from his title position and sending him into exile from shame.
Dazzle might not look like much, but her small size makes her incredibly capable at dodging attacks; it's very difficult to hit something so small and fast. In addition, she is incredibly talented with illusion magic, which was how she defeated Gnash at all, and which she utilizes in most of her fights overall. Some of her opponents began entering the ring with her blindfolded, choosing to trust their other senses instead, but Dazzle simply adapted to this by practicing with her illusion magic until she became talented enough to disorient their other senses, too.
Now, how does such a tiny and powerful Veilspun end up in the arena, fighting for glory? Surely there are better places for her to be, places where she won't risk being hurt as much, places where she could better utilize her illusion magic.
But Dazzle doesn't want to be more useful with her magic. She wants to become stronger, and stronger, and stronger.
She wants to be the one to kill Luminax.
Dazzle and her clan once lived in harmony in the plains of the Sunbeam Ruins, where they were happy and content. Dazzle always had natural talent with her illusions, but she rarely used them for anything other than playing and having fun with her clanmates.
Then Luminax rose. Being Veilspuns, Dazzle's entire clan was swallowed in a singular mouthful. Thanks to her particular small size and high speed, Dazzle was the only one able to escape. She had to watch as her clan was devoured all at once, as everything and everyone she had ever known was destroyed with barely a movement of the beast's jaws.
Dazzle was distraught and wandered around for some time, dazed. Finally, the anger settled in, and she vowed revenge. She vowed to be the one to slay Luminax. And she entered the ring to become strong enough to take up the task.
Her homeland has become Luminax's Wake. And Dazzle has sworn to be the one to reclaim it. For the memory of her clanmates, her family, and her home.
