BARGHEST LORE AND LINEAGE PROJECT
GENERATION III BLACKMORE’S LINE
"Take a chance and roll the dice."
T hough Solace City seems like a shining beacon of light, deep shadows are still cast. Within some of these shadows, rumors of the Gambler permeates. Those who come across this creature are given a choice. Beat her in a game of chance and they may live. Those who lose or refuse never see the light of day. |
Rogue checked around the alleyway. No souls appeared to be about, save for himself and the little veilspun perched upon his head. "Don't think this is the right place boss," Viper stated. He couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. They had spent the past month trying to track down the so called Gambler. Everything they've managed to dig up so far hinted her to be the same sort of creature that afflicted the imperial with his curse. While they were able to gather some information on these Barghests, there was only so much they could do in such short time. Fascinating monsters, Viper felt. Rogue had undergone his first transformation the last moon. They had done what they could to keep him locked up for the night. And there, he sketched and studied from a safe distance. Trying to find the Gambler was without a doubt, risky. But a Barghest in his city was too good of an opportunity for Rogue to pass up. "No. She's 'round here alright," Rogue drawled as he eyed some marks on the nearby wall. He traced a claw over the symbols thoughtfully. After a moment, he pushed in a brick, causing a passageway to reveal itself, "Here we go..." "Quite bold of you to enter my lair without invitation," a voice whispered out from the depths. The meeting had been tense. It seemed at any point, violence could break out. Rogue held his ground, carefully choosing his words as he parleyed with the Barghest. Spade, she called herself. Luckily for him, he caught her while she was in a good mood. She was willing to listen to what the Imperial had to say. It was laughable. There was no cure for his curse. Even that fool, Father Herald, couldn't run from it forever. Spade had no intention of providing any real assistance to the matter. It was a lost cause. When her time of amusement expired, she did what she did with any of her prospective victims: propose a game. If she won, she'd assist the newly cursed with his silly little futile quest. If she won, she'd eat to eat his veilspun friend and Rogue would have to help draw victims in. It was almost assured. After all, the house always wins. She didn't think Rogue would be prepared for this sort of thing specifically. He ended up winning, barely.
