Alkali has a hard time holding onto her own emotions. She can smell other dragons’ feelings - their joy, their sorrow, their jealousy, their rage - and it’s hard not to let them wash over her. It’s especially hard when it’s tempting; when her own emotions make her uneasy. This is a problem that makes itself worse, of course, and now she catches whispers calling her shallow when they think she can’t hear, and she turns away, finds some festival or celebration to drown out her own reaction.
