Biography

Lore is a WIP, these are just ideas for what I might want.
Shonsea and his mate, Marelyn, could be described as prime examples of pure Arcane Aether.
Salvage runs back to the Astrolab, mainly to recover lost books, book transcribing (although Cornith has absolutely no faith in them). Works with Pleiades because the Astrolab is kinda, y'know, underwater now.

work-chaos balance: work is chaos for them
when it comes to obsessed vs. researching, to them, they're doing research and, to be fair, they do know what they're talking about most of the time (I like to imagine that Arcane dragons, while rambunctious, still do well in school situations and that these two have been to "school" before joining my clan), but to outsiders it looks more like an obsession simply because of the lack of control they have.

the only ones who have ever tried to stop them are the members of the clan who are like "I'm genuinely concerned for the safety of both you and the other dragons here because how often does text transcribing lead to magical explosions?"
(i.e. Rastaban as he's the founder and thus has the most authority)
the only reason they haven't been fully stopped is because "nothing really bad's happened! ...(yet)"

so, we've established that they like to do salvage runs back to the Astrolab for whatever was written even though they weren't on it when it crashed and also the idea of Aether trying to preserve scrolls is something that would get many dragons to laugh at the idea
to them, they're doing research but to others, it seems like chaos bc they have an absolute lack of control

what they research is honestly just, whatever seems interesting enough to them
which, they can be picky, but there's no clearly defined groups of what it is that they like

If both of them see good enough chances of success, they'll go through with it (even if there's an equally if not more so chance of A Situation)
If one of them thinks A Situation will happen and does not want it but the other doesn't know/doesn't believe/wants to do it anyway, an argument will ensue and either they will manage to stop them, the other will somehow manage to do it anyway, or the argument will escalate magically or maybe even physically which might cause an entirely new Situation to develop
If both of them think A Situation will be bad, they will probably put it on the "maybe we'll do this later" pile (may or may not be a literal pile idk) which is basically just a place for them to continue looking at and thinking about it until they eventually snap and go through with it

they kind of go into every project with equal zeal and excitement - which is to say all of it

I would say typically the more energetic the spell, the more interested they will be. That being said, if they find something with a practical use they will probably share it with the clan.
As for specific eras... given the fact that they're always looking for stuff on the Astrolab, I can imagine the rare time that some dragon might give them something from another source to be a weird experience for them, because like "wait, why is it written this way?"
as for styles of transcribing spells and writing...
I can imagine a running joke among them being that each of them has better methods of rewriting the spells to prevent them from eating the paper but in reality neither of them are succeeding all that well

I don't want to give exact numbers, but they're more successful than they sound?
the problem is that typically stuff going wrong is more eventful than stuff going right simply because stuff tends to go wrong in a more spectacular fashion than stuff going right

they might revel in the chaos if nothing bad happens to them or anything else important around them
their reactions towards others teasing/commenting about the chaos is probably mixed but along the lines of "we are serious about what we're doing!" (with connotations of "please believe us!"). "Anything else important around them" means that some spell might cause sparks of energy to go all over the place and destroy inexpensive things, make a general mess, or even damage the walls/floor/ceiling of the room itself and they'd be fine

if it's a new project, they might do the former but with some kind of planning if they think it requires some but they will also include the "SHOVE EVERYTHING WE WERE JUST WORKING ON OFF TO THE SIDE" part - "pay absolutely no mind to the fact that shoving everything off might cause a new Situation"
if it's one of the aforementioned "this was dangerous, which is why it was in the "we'll do this later" pile" then if they actually do it, they'll definitely include quite a bit of planning.

Exalting Shonsea to the service of the Arcanist will remove them from your lair forever. They will leave behind a small sum of riches that they have accumulated. This action is irreversible.
