Biography
Rastaban's Logbook wrote:
I am incredibly surprised at the latest addition to our clan. I have heard the stories about dragons enchanting plush dolls to act like living dragons, or simply turning living dragons into animated plush dolls entirely, and one of them has joined us! She's a Fire dragon, too, which surprises me, although it adds to her... appeal?
She's not quite able to speak, it seems to be a part of her enchantment. She almost reminds me of... could she be...?
She's not quite able to speak, it seems to be a part of her enchantment. She almost reminds me of... could she be...?
"Are you alright, Rastaban?" The Skydancer asked.
Rastaban let out a breath. "No, Cordier. Firstly, I feel the sorrow of my children - our children, really. They aren't going to like being cooped up inside the lair during the winter. But on top of that, I'm worried about Tsetrina, it seems like her memories are resurfacing and she's still not alright with it. Trifid is with her now, but she doesn't seem like she will be easily consolable."
The two dragons were then interrupted by calls of shock and amazement from their children. They were flying down towards the edge of the thick Starwood forest, where there was clearly something moving around. Rastaban and Cordier made their way down to join them.
"Hello? Is someone there?" Rastaban called. A rustling was heard, and it was clearly coming toward them. Despite even Rastaban's size, many of the trees were taller than him, and they became very thick rather quickly, so it was hard to judge what it was. The rustling came closer, and movement started to be noticed. "Stay behind me," Rastaban advised, making sure his children and clanmates were safe. Whatever was causing this motion was large.
"Father, I don't sense any malign intent from there," Kyrna offered. Cordier and Seneca agreed. Rastaban kept his guard up, not willing to take any chances. The motion drew closer, and a draconic figure appeared. It was a female Obelisk, largely red and tan in color, with... several different patterns on her body? Rastaban allowed the other dragons to come to his side as the Obelisk approached.
"Oh my! She's a living plush dragon!" Arcturus exclaimed. The Obelisk came into the clear, and the group was able to see her clearly. She was covered in several patches all over her body. Kyrna approached, extending a claw to feel the unfamiliar Obelisk before stopping herself.
"I'm sorry," she said, realizing her insensitivity, "are you alright with-" she was stopped before she could finish as the Obelisk suddenly reached out, wrapped an arm around Kyrna, and pulled the Skydancer in close to hug her. "Oh! Oh my, you're warm," Kyrna observed, feeling the Obelisk's embrace.
"My name is Rastaban, leader of this clan. What is your name?" The Guardian asked formally.
The Obelisk let go of Kyrna, and tried to formulate a response. She didn't seem to know how to move her mouth to form words, or couldn't do so easily. The group waited patiently as the Obelisk managed to make out "For... Lina,"
"Forlina?" Cordier asked. The Obelisk nodded.
"Well, Forlina, you look a bit roughed up from whatever you've gone through. You may come in with us if you want. In fact, you might be able to help us with something.
Tsetrina was hysterical. The fact that he had to show up in her dreams again... it was awful, why did she have to be punished like this? She was clearly the one who made the right decision! She sobbed, looking at the ground as Trifid kept an arm and wing over her, just sitting there in silence; that was all she wanted, so he obliged.
"Oh my goodness! You look adorable!" Hyades' voice rang out from the tunnels leading away from Tsetrina's chamber. Trifid looked up, but went back to watching Tsetrina. That was, until Rastaban came into the room.
"May I enter?" He asked respectfully. Tsetrina stood up without looking towards him, but nodded. The Guardian came into the room. "Tsetrina, I understand that you may not be receptive to us trying to help you in your recovery, but... we found someone who might be able to help you in times like this." Tsetrina looked up to see Rastaban, and standing next to him was... a plush Obelisk? She approached Tsetrina, looking at her with knowing eyes. Tsetrina slowly walked forward, and leaned into the Obelisk's body as she wrapped both arms around the much smaller Pearlcatcher. Tsetrina just sat there for several moments, letting the moment be. Rastaban nodded to Trifid and left the room. Tsetrina felt her stress begin melting away. She looked at the new Obelisk, seeing the patches all over her body, her wings had the pattern of those new gene scrolls that were coming out of the Southern Icefield. Then, what was that? Tsetrina looked closer. On the Obelisk was a piece of paper that seemed to be sewn onto her, a tag of some kind, one that was in a place the Obelisk could neither see nor reach. Tsetrina read the tag, and her stress was overcome by shock. Wait, that tag... I know that story, what happened to that clan, that child and her plush disappearing into the forest, the awful news of what was found there... Tsetrina looked over to Trifid and signaled him to walk closer. She gestured as best as she could to the tag. Trifid read it without disturbing the new Obelisk. He put a paw over his mouth and gasped. The tag had two simple words written on it: "For: Lina."
Forlina could hardly be described as anything negative, although many of the clan's "tougher" dragons shun the notion that a dragon like her would be needed, seeing her and what she's associated with as figuratively (and literally) soft. That being said, most other dragons see no reason to not have her around. She shares a chamber with Tangren, given the two share similar qualities and motives.
Forlina is also highly perceptive, and will come to the aid of any dragon in emotional distress. Her internal warmth as a Fire dragon is highly appreciated by several dragons, as it's largely comforting. They'll never say this aloud, but some prefer Forlina over Hyades, given the latter is much more hyper and often clings more tightly despite being several times smaller. Unlike Hyades and a few others, Forlina is typically able to sense when a dragon would not be willing to see her, and allows them to have their privacy when they desire.
The clan naturally feels averse to calling her Forlina, given what is written on her tag, although they have nothing better. It seems she doesn't know the tag is there, and nothing about her seems to give any indication that she remembers the stories the clan says she is involved in, even if she is part of those stories.
