Biography
Mehlt
Mehlt is a different sort of hunter than the other hunters like Threve and Fever; he specializes in persistence hunting. Mehlt has the determination and the stamina to keep pursuing the same prey for days on end, until it's too exhausted to keep fleeing from him and he can take it down. This more specialized hunting style focuses on mostly large prey, so when Mehlt comes home from a hunt, his catch will be able to keep the clan's carnivores fed for a long time.
Mehlt's determination borders on obsession; if he comes home from a hunt empty-handed, he'll vow vengeance on whatever prey he failed to nab and go back out again after the exact same beast. However, it is rare that he comes home empty-handed; if he does, it's usually because he underestimated the prey, and it fought back, and he has been grievously injured. Other than extreme bodily harm, Mehlt refuses to surrender, and has spent weeks trailing the same prey on several occasions.
Mehlt's stoic and cold personality makes him difficult to work with, not that he wants to work with anyone anyways. He swears that he works best alone, and refuses company on his expeditions. This frustrates Threve in particular; as the head hunter, if something happens to Mehlt, the responsibility falls on her. Yet Mehlt still refuses to let anybody tag along on his hunts, even for his own protection. He works alone, no exceptions.
