Biography

Fever
Fever is a dedicated survivalist who is extremely proud of her ability to thrive in any conditions, regardless of where in Sornieth she is. From the Scarred Wasteland, to where she resides now in the Shifting Expanse, Fever is confident in her ability to survive and adapt. She has spent most of her life so far exploring the world on her own, but now that she’s settled down — for now — with the Clan of the Striking Bolt, her intention is to teach them how to survive as she has in turn.

What makes Fever’s uncanny survival abilities, her power to escape any situation the Plaguebringer throws her way, especially notable is that she is completely and entirely Deaf, and has been for her entire life. Fever relies entirely on her eyesight and her brilliant sense of smell to detect danger and dodge it just in time. Fever can speak, but she does so with an extremely heavy Deaf accent, making it difficult for some other dragons to understand her. Because of this, Fever prefers to communicate through a form of sign language which she coined herself on her travels. This sign language, which her clanmates affectionately refer to as “FSL” (Feverish Sign Language) involves the dragon’s entire body: their wings, their tails, their claws, everything. It may look like some sort of elaborate dance or a game of charades to outsiders. Luckily, since so much of the Clan of the Striking Bolt is made up of Nocturnes, everyone mimicked everyone else’s skills with this sign language in a feedback loop, and now almost everyone is fluent in it.

Besides challenging her own skills and passing those skills on to other dragons, Fever is also on the hunting team, serving under Threve. Fever has inherited the gourmet tastes in meat of her ancestors, as well as their uncanny ability to sniff anything out, and as a result she has a powerful nose that serves as a great asset for hunting down the highest-quality meat. Threve is thrilled by Fever’s ability, and the two are close friends who often share their hunts with each other.

It’s a good thing that Fever has such good skills when it comes to hunting, because like her friend Threve, she is a total meat fanatic. She prefers it raw, or as close to raw as possible, and while she isn’t particularly picky, she does know good meat from bad meat and will almost always pick the former if given the choice.

Sometimes, Fever just disappears off into the wilderness for days or weeks at a time, and everyone knows she’ll be back eventually. Fever believes in regularly testing her skills to keep them in tip-top shape, and when she comes back, her tail and claws will be frantically signing as she retells her adventures, and she’ll almost always have a new scar to brag about.

Known best for their ability to eat anything meat (including insects) raw or otherwise, this group is significantly less pickier than their wine-tasting cousins. They go out of their way to give advice past 'well I don't like it.'
