Biography

An Arcane Aether astronomer, how very unusual!

Orionid was always aware he was a little bit of a stereotype in that matter. He even enjoyed nibbling on paper as a hatchling, although he had to outgrow that habit after he began to study properly. It wouldn't do to eat his own research notes. Although of course, he could always try writing on clay tablets.

A thing about stargazing is that it requires a relatively dark environment. That's available in many places in the Crystalspine Reaches, but it so happened that Orionid was born in one of the larger settlements of the mountains, and any night observation required hiking a few valleys over to avoid the lights of torches. That wasn't too much of an issue, at first. As a student, not perfect darkness could be enough. And as Orionid grew and left to pursue his studies in the Tourmaline Archive, the researchers had plenty of places reserved for astronomy.

But when Orionid decided to return to the Crystalspine Reaches after finishing his studies, he decided a different location was needed. Bringing with him his at the time friend Snapshot - who Orionid hadn't been crushing on since the first moment he had seen him, nope - he scoured various possible locations.

The perfect option was Alkaid Vale. A clan lived there, yes, but it was a small one, meaning there was the support of other dragons with minimal night light. Folk were tolerant to welcoming of the new researchers. Some were even delighted to have them. For instance, the Guardian Crystallize was an expert in a completely different field, but he still liked having more scientific minds around.

Nowadays, Orionid spends most of his nights doing observations, and most his days napping. He's published a few papers, too. Which he wrote, on paper, that he didn't eat. See how mature he is.
