Biography
Sunstorm's great-grandson, Crystallize has shown a great intelligence since he hatched from his egg. A somewhat awkward dragon, he's not particularly athletic nor a talented warrior, and quite small in size too. He is, however, incredibly smart. His greatest passion has always been taking things apart between his claws, questioning how they worked, wanting to know the hows and whys of everything.
Growing up, he lived with his parents and siblings. He was particularly close to one of his younger siblings, Kunzite, who acted like Crystallize's small shadow when they were a hatchling. It could be a little annoying, but mostly endearing. Crystallize liked trying to teach them about whatever engineering concept he had learnt from books he found. However, chatting with an hatchling wasn't enough for Crystallize. He wanted to study machinery and engineering in depths, with people who knew what they were talking about.
Once he was old enough to travel, he left for the Tourmaline Archives. He wasn't exactly talented with magic, but he put great effort into studying it, because he was fascinated by its applications. Especially things like telekinesis, or magical prevention of the wear and tear every structure suffers from. For a time he lived in the Astroldome, sharing opinions with other learnt dragons. Crystallize was noted for his intelligence and creative ideas - although he was maybe a little too reckless when it came to magic.
His time at the Astroldome ended after he got caught in an unfortunate magical mishap. Together with other scholars, he was studying the application of magic to reinforcement of structures. Some things went wrong, and that led to the Arcane imbued crystal growths on his body. They restrict his mobility, but he has found ways around it, including an apparatus he has personally designed to help him move when the crystals are too rigid.
The weeks immediately after the accident were the hardest. Hating being stuck in the infirmary, he decided to seek out his great-grandmother Sunstorm's clan in Alkaid Vale. There he could be helped by the skilled healer and clan leader Downsoft. His sibling Kunzite came to find him there too, wanting to aid how they could with the recovery. Their elder cousin Helcaraxe too gave an helping hand, being themselves an expert in magic and therefore able to understand some of Crystallize's predicament. Helcaraxe and Crystallize however ended up often at odds with each other. Crystallize prefers to find way to harness magic in useful ways, while Helcaraxe insists on studying it on a purely natural level, a position Crystallize finds close-minded at best.
Nowadays, Crystallize helps with planning out the lair. After all, mountains have a tendency to, well, cause landslides, and it comes in handy that he is an expert at ensuring no stray rocks happen to fall in the wrong place. He's also fond on working on his own little trinkets in his spare time. Sometimes he misses the Astroldome with its constant debates, but those debates were mostly theoretical, or regarding controlled experiments. Crystallize likes the more practical work he can do in the mountains. If he really wants to argue about something, he can go bother Helcaraxe about it.
