Biography

Blythe
Head Merchant | Photo Album | Child of the West Wind | Second Mate

Blythe is truly a gift to some. Though they can be cold, it's tucked away deep within them on most days- which leaves their joyful and bubbly nature on show to those who they love dearest; though of course they care for every dragon like they were their own brood if they have the energy. They don't take any rubbish and will often speak their mind on everything, believing freedom and individuality to be one of the most important things in this life. They go where the wind takes their wings and makes it their duty to help everyone find their own selves and their freedom. This can lead to quite a few displays of arrogance and rash thinking, following their heart more than logic.

Blythe does their job well though, selling the goods that the Bleurose Clan obtain to other places with an undeniable charisma and smile to match - all the while training their son Raphael (when he's free) to take over their place in the unlikely event of Blythe's promotion. They're of the belief you can't be too careful when it comes to these things, which is rare in a usually uncaring nature, although they take their studies under their mentor, Zephyr, very seriously and can be found quoting them frequently to others. On the ship, they're quick and efficent, carrying out tasks and Nari's orders so the ship runs smoothly, and for that, Nari is thankful.

Due to a largely unsuccessful love life and a mixed childhood, Blythe has a fluctuating mood that ranges from extreme sadness, to anger, to the bubbliest joy in the world. It was manageable for a while but then their time with Chase did not work out, as the coatl became bitter during the attempted polyamoury with Vacnar and instead of a harmony it only caused paranoia and hatred between all three parties.

They sought solace from all the hatred and stress that the relationship caused, taking comfort from Viresco, the so named 'prince' of the lair. They fell in love, both dragons cheating on their current partners. Both broke up with them both soon after - so they could be with each other. It didn't last long. Viresco soon loved elsewhere, claiming to love the two dragons equally. Blythe knew where this led and so left as a final act of self-preservation to suffer on their own terms.
They saw this as punishment for their wrong doings, the perceived love of their life at the time taken from them as payment for their infidelity. It was fair play, but it still hurt, and the pain took its toll on Blythe. They retreated to the back of the lair, where they slept for a long, long time. Raphael took their place, and Vacnar guarded what was left of the nocturne. While still angry, he cared for them and didn't want them to starve themselves as they tended to do. During their sleep, Viresco and his new lover, Blythe's best friend Dreamer, left.

Eventually they woke and found solace in other friends, but their pain bled through in everything they did, added to by the lashings out of the dragons they had left at the wayside for Viresco. This made them toxic company and one by one they left to follow Viresco and Dreamer to their new clan, leaving Blythe to become more cautious and distrusting of others due to experience, with one exception; the floracat, Rosie. The two are inseparable and the little creature can often be found on the nocturnes back or alongside them. Blythe jokes how Rosie stalks through the grass with the stealth and fierceness of a Parda, rather than a floracat.

Anything to do with their previous partner Chase is kept at several wings lengths and as such were their feelings that Nari agreed to the breaking of the allegiance of the two clans on request. Their sadness can still be volatile but smiling gets more and more frequent each day- which is slowly helping them get new friends and love people like they did before, including their children. It's no secret they're fiercely protective over them, writing the ones that no longer remain within their birth clan letters. Some don't answer, but Blythe still writes anyway in case they're ever needed.

Five festivals later, the little Nocturne began to shine again. Although still very vulnerable in mood-swings, they flew forward with hopes and dreams in tow, which led to Vacnar asking them to become his mate again and after much discussion- they decided to become a pair once more....which eventually didn't work out as Blythe realised they were non-binary and needed some time, but together they became a lot better as individuals. This was until Vacnar decided to mate with a dragon that Blythe thought was far too young for him, someone very similar to Blythe in their youth – so Blythe asked for him to be cast from the clan. Nari agreed, shocked at the ridgebacks actions.

Although the past saddens the nocturne, all they can do is move forward and vow to endeavour not to repeat it. No-one is the sum of their mistakes and if you look back and regret what you've done, it shows growth. They're becoming a little more mature, although they keep people who have hurt them away, they can be seen honouring them in small ways. Their manner of speech, the ring upon their finger, their love of bears.

Sometimes they miss the dragons they have lost but understands it's for the best. They're better on their own while they figure out how to trust again, how to be trusted, and who they are.
They spent a lot of their time with a group of nerdy dragons, known collectively as ‘The Guild’. They often met in order to play card games and enjoy each other’s company. Although there was one that Blythe spent time with the most, affectionately nicknaming him Floof. A few months of cuddling and pranking later, he said to them that he didn't care what they were, and instead cared more about who they were on the inside. Blythe feared this, he was so inexperienced and young while they were so broken, cold and unsure. They warned him many times, telling him to stay away but the tundra was persistent and eventually Blythe decided to try. Blythe eventually left The Guild to study at the Arcane Observatory. In their absence, the group changed for the worse and even the ones that were good friends of Blythe, found the distance too much or grew to be entirely different dragons. Blythe never returned to that group, much as it pained them to know it's fate.

Of course, the nocturne was still cautious as is their nature after the horrible events in their love life. Although they have left that behind, the memories and thoughts have not. In an attempt to drive the thoughts away, Blythe put all of their energy into Floof by using their influence and drive in order to make the tundra turned spiral - happy and healthy again. They didn’t really know how to express love in any other way, blindly stumbling along and trying not to let the scepticism and mental health get in the way – but it wasn’t as simple as this. Thankfully, Floof was patient and Blythe reminded themselves to not do what they did before to others, scared that it has now become a chronic behaviour within themselves, they frantically try and change.

Unfortunately, Blythe’s efforts weren’t enough, and they made the same mistakes whilst away from Floof at the Arcane Observatory – which the nocturne left to study at for three years. These mistakes were worked through or endured, but the relationship still dwindled due to the lack of common interests and Blythe becoming busier with work – it was dire but still plodding along. This is how it may have been for months more, until an attack on Blythe left them shaken and in a state of shock for months. This attack was in part Blythe's fault but despite forgiveness, it destroyed Blythe to the point where they just needed to be alone romantically. The relationship with Floof was weak - but this was the last straw for them. Blythe wrote a letter and the spiral respectfully left the next day.

They have since found a new group, calling themselves 'Sanctum'. A group of exceedingly dysfunctional dragons, trying their best to survive and support eachother with mixed results. Blythe returned from their studies to resume work within the clan and to change it for the better with the help of their friends. They say Blythe has grown more mature and kinder over the years and although they don’t see it, Blythe still tries their best to be the best dragon they can be.
