Irainia

For as long as Irainia could remember, she'd been more interested in rocks than in flowers and plants. And dragons have an exceptional memory.

Oh, gems and rocks had been her passion since she was hatched. As a hatchling, she'd brought three small round stones to her and her sisters' nest. What she hadn't been aware of was that she'd inadvertently foretold the fate of each of them.

By giving the reddish agate to one, the green olivine to the other, and taking the sandy jasper for herself, she had determined their paths for years to come.

Not many specimens of various minerals that are not exceptionally useful to plants can be found under the shade of the tree. So she decided to follow the proud and mysterious opal snapper who was traveling with merchandise from Dragonhome.

Before embarking on her long journey, Ire asked her sisters to cherish their talismans. For from now on they were not together like they had always been until that day.

Collecting and studying the vast number of new samples consumed her for years. In search of the perfect gem, she traveled from Dragonhome to Cloudscrape Crags.

But it was nowhere to be found. In each of the so-called "perfect" specimens, she saw a flaw. Each of them lacked the vibrancy of the light reflection, or translucence, or sparkle of the inclusions.

Thus began her plunge into alchemy. And again many years of researching patterns, of transmutation of the highest grades. In one of her last experiments, she transformed the skin on her wings into a vibrant and radiant labradorite. It came close, of course, to transmuting the perfect gem, but it was not it.

Having returned to Dragonhome, to her laboratory, she continues her experiments even now. She goes outside only to search for more and more relict and rare specimens to transmute.

She only needs to concentrate on her work at all times.
