Biography

descendant of naomi: candor
183.png6351.png2946.png
There was nothing but a small hand mirror to be his audience. Yet still he confessed, "I want this to be over. This family."
status: left clan pendulum before it turned into the order of sera noire. traveling to avoid detection.
calm two-faced zealous contradictory enmeshed condemned struggle shade malleable follower

whispers circled him since the fae first began traveling the lands of sornieth. he left the nest young - barely an adolescent - and eager to escape the gaze of others. there was never much in the way of a 'home' for him. no clan, no one to bond with, nothing at all. for a long time that didn't change. he was alone in his life for the first time and that lasted for what felt like eons. walking, traveling. always moving forward with some unknown destination in mind and fears that the past would catch up with him. walking. walking. crawling. flying. seeking. avoiding. and the whispers that started when he left continued no matter where he went.

(How did he find Pendulum? It was not luck, surely. He couldn't fathom a clan of dragons who not only welcomed the Shade but understood it on their own terms. His bloodline was besieged with violence, with an empty existence, and void, and he always thought it was only those like him who could have such a fate drawn in the sand.

Yet... there it was.

Pendulum.

The piece of a clock that swings from side to side in one continuous motion.

Always moving forward.)

he didn't know if he wanted a clan. or a home.

what even was a home? what even was friendly? warm? what would take him in? everyone knew the legends that circulated the one whose blood he possessed. it was easy to trace back the lineage to the ageless keeper of the exalted. what was he now? her great.... great-grandson? did he even know? he didn't and that frustrated him. if he were stuck with a bunch of vile blood and Shade that encompassed his existence he deserved to know the exact details. he did. he did!

he spent hours repeating the words over, and over, and over, and over again until he bit his cheek too hard in frustration and spat out blood a too black to be natural. even in his most meager downtime the cursed liquid that ran in his veins threatened to control every aspect of him.

he hated himself for it.

(Minerva. That was her name.

He didn't know her at first. She wasn't a myth, or a legend, and if she was then she was certainly not a known one. The Fae was sneaky and elusive in a way that demanded the fullest attention to catch a fleeting glimpse of her. Her form contorted with the wind and he could feel the energy of something unholy and unnatural within the gales that blew over the cliffs of Light. In what was nothing but the outmost irony a plague of darkness could be felt permeating through the pores of the earth and rising through the marble caverns where Pendulum's lair had been carved out.

All this under the gaze of the Lightweaver. Everything under her sight. Her embrace. It was a terrible sense of contradiction and yet he was amazed how in the same breath Minerva not only covered her tracks but utilized every resource of the area in order to excel at her goals and expand her influence.

She was motherly. A nurturer. A guide. A teacher. She was one of a Shade--not the same as him, never, but one all the same. Her strain of Shade was corporeal. He was utterly enraptured.)

there were many harsh days; many terrible ones. storms overhead when he had no shelter; pounding rain and snow when the area was clear and trees scarce. gusts of wind that pushed him off his feet and sent his small form tumbling wing over heels through undergrowth and brush. he spent too many nights lying restless without sleep and come morning he would be forced to stand on his aching bones once more. he missed too many meals. he endured too many times crying and coughing from sickness he couldn't treat. too much. too much. too much.

too much.

everything was too much.

(Symbiotic-mutualistic, it was refered to.

He remembers the co-Monarch of Pendulum explaining it to him...

"That's the official term. Try not to let it go to your head . It's different for each of us." the Skydancer Nyx bowed his head.

"What do you mean? Different?" Candor paused. "Aren't Shade the same?"

A stiff shake of the head.

Nyx cleared his throat. One feathery foot stomped the ground lightly as he recited, "The ways it manifests are known to be similar but that does not mean all are required to be equal in order to exist. Think of it as a way to categorize plants. You have kingdoms. The kingdoms then fall into what we call divisions-technical terms for groups, essentially-and from there we proceed to label them via certain aspects such as classes, families, orders, and genera. If Shade is a Kingdom then there are still the divisions left to be discerned and so on and so forth. Do you understand?"

The Fae didn't but he nodded anyways.

Something about the way the Shade was described was off yet it felt... homely.)

he didn't hatch a fae. early in his journey the dragon sought out services of a mage who conjured powerful magic that transformed his body into something new. he became small, nimble, and the colors that once ran in scales up and down his hide had become something of their own. it was his way of letting go of his connection to his family and embracing a new identify that left room for him and him alone. a step toward healing.

he/him. nonbinary.
