N I G H T R A I D E R
Soon all shall know the power of the shade.

Most know this dragon as the 'Nightraider'; while to some he's known as 'Fade Touched'. And those who once knew his name have long since passed away. "How many of your gods did it take to push them away the last time they set their eyes on this world? All of them. And they could only banish The Shade. Even the pillar has only weakened them. I have now seen what the Arcanist saw- but I will not falter in my calling as he did." The Nightraider is on the path to prove to his fellow dragonkind that The Shade is the only thing in the galaxy that deserves their devotion. And he is willing to do whatever it takes to ensure this happens, determined to not leave his brothers and sisters alone in the dark. He has now set up in a keep Victoria told him of. She also convinced him that some Dragonkind needed more time then others to understand and accept what he was saying, and to leave those unbelieving in this clan alive and well. So for now he keeps watch over those he calls his own, and waits diligently for the next calling of The Shade. It was during this time of rest that he happened to meet a bard, Corrigan that caught his attention. He's confused how one who is so well traveled can see his claims, understand the truth he is speaking of the Shade and still not wish to follow him. "I agree that the shade is very powerful- I of all dragons understand the stories of our kind that lead to the shades banishment the first time. But I still say that it's all fine and dandy for the shade to tell you that Nightraider- but wouldn't something that's almost been obliterated say anything it thought would get you to help it?" The words echoed through Nightraider's mind like an unwanted buzz. He didn't like that this bard made him question the path he'd been given for so long. He didn't want to think what it would mean if he had been used by The Shade. |

Nightraider was once a dragon that had dedicated his life to exploring the heavens and learning all he could about the stars and life beyond their world. He looked to the Arcanist as his role model, finding the god one to be admired in his endeavors of knowledge of what was outside their world. He was well loved in his community for his wisdom and knowledge on subjects relating to the stars and the universe. Had anyone ever suggested to any in his clan that one day he would become the Nightraider- they would have laughed at the very thought. "He wouldn't hurt an ant." Had he never seen the darkness swirling in the distance- maybe that would have been true. But the moment his eyes landed on the unexplained mystery that was the void in the distance, on that fateful night, his path was forged. So often he looked to the star for mysteries, but here was one right outside his door, and he needed to know what it was! It had to be fate that he saw it, when he hardly ever looked away from the sky once the sun had set. So he went out in search of the darkness- and found a wisp of The Shade that sung sweetly to him. With one claw he reached out to touch the void and his life changed forever. He has now traveled the land, slowly gathering those into his ranks to further spread the truth of The Shade and not what the jealous gods desired their kind to believe. |

As he is only Fade touched he still holds onto some remnant of his former self- and that remnant is what 'Owlet' saw when she accepted him as her dragon. She has traveled with him far and wide- purring softly against his chest when the night terrors were too much for him. She has gained a spot in his heart that only a pet can claim, and goes into every battle he faces. Whether physical or spiritual, Owlet is by his side defending the dragon she saw, in hopes of saving him from The Shade. Seer became his trusted companion when he needed a pair of eyes that could slip by unnoticed. Nightraider found Seer as a young bird after a fellow dragon denied his gift, and saw it as an opportunity given to him to show he could still save a life that was willing to be saved. Since then, Seer has scouted out many a clan before Nightraider arrived- giving him crucial information before it was his time to strike those who would not listen. |
