... He woke slowly. Bits of shell still clung to his cheek and wings, skin still sticky with residue of a hatching he wasn't awake for. Too early, he heard, and then his eyes slid shut again.
When he finally, truly woke, he found himself in a soft bed of moss. Egg shell no longer clung to him, and the sticky residue was gone as well, leaving him clean, if feeling particularly exposed. The rest of the world came into focus a breath at a time, and between one blink and the next, he found himself staring at a furred dragon. He couldn't tell their gender right away, not at the first glance, nor the second, and they let him stare at them for as long as he wanted, until he went to speak.
'You are my chosen. You will lead where I cannot. You will be King, where I cannot. You,' and here the voice faltered for a moment, as if contemplative. 'You are Felicuth. You will be what others aspire to be, you will be the King they need, and the King I chose.'
Felicuth. King Felicuth. He quite liked the sound of that.

... He needed to learn. He needed to understand how to run a kingdom before he could actually be given a kingdom, but the seed had been planted. His God, his Father, Epoch, guided him in the directions that he needed to go, turned him to the books that he needed to read or the practices he needed to put in the work for. If he could prove that he could understand what they spoke of in the books, Epoch had already promised to help him find their first subject that would act as his second in command. There would be a train of control; Epoch told Feli what to do, and Feli would tell his subordinate what to do, and honestly, he was far too excited about the whole thing- or, at least, that's what Epoch accused him of.
If he wanted to prove his worth, he needed to calm down and focus. Feli could focus. After all, the very thread of their Kingdom depended on a sturdy loom, and what were he and his father if not exactly that?
