Biography
༻ E p o c h ༺ - G O D
I ... When he first woke, he didn't recognize his surroundings. Lush, ever expanding greenery seemed to almost breathe with the teeming of life that filled it, and for some reason, that felt... wrong. He felt as though he was displaced, set somewhere he was never supposed to be, and the feeling persisted as he pushed himself up onto his feet and looked around. Apparently, he had woken nestled in the roots of a gigantic tree, and his brain itched with the equal parts familiarity and obscene wrongness that pervaded his being. He wasn't supposed to be here- or, at least, that was how it felt. The tree, itself, felt as though it were a fully realized being, and the longer he stay near its roots, the more displeased it seemed with his presence, until, finally, he took his leave. Where was he? Around him, the world fell silent, only for the sound to pick up again as he moved away, as though a bubble enclosed him and told everything living nearby that he was danger. It didn't make him feel very comfortable, but he forged on. Perhaps, if he could figure out where he was, he could discover why everything felt so wrong... but first, he should probably look for some food. ྿ II ... He finally stumbled to a stop, paws aching and shoulders sore from the workout of running and flying, near a muggy, muddled stream. He still felt as though he were being hunted, but the silence had returned in that bubble around him, the same way it had since he first woke up what felt like eons ago, and with it came the comforting lack of shouts and cries on his tail. Peace, finally. He flopped onto his belly at the very edge of the stream, stretching himself out and rubbing his paws into the gritty combination of dirt and sand that made up the embankment. It almost felt like home, not that he knew for sure what home was, but it certainly brought a sensation of peace. He could rest, at least for a little while, here. ྿ III ... The hatchling was small. Smaller than one of his paws, even, and it made a strange fear curl in Epoch's stomach at the sight of him. Small, delicate little creature, He could barely keep his eyes open after his hatch, and Epoch couldn't even blame him for it. Such a little thing, it had to take immense energy just to break free from the shell of his egg. Epoch cleaned him, and then set him into the bed he had prepared the moment he first found the egg sitting half-hidden behind some bushes, alone amongst sibling shells that were already long gone. He had, at the time, wondered if the thing would even hatch, but now he could see the fruits of his labor. Now, he could finally see his plans beginning to take a solid- if incredibly tiny- form. |
