How Alex came to be severely injured is a subject he keeps closed-mouthed on but causes him disquieting and often violent dreams. Everline suspects he was 'enhanced' by Core as one of the physician's experiments in an effort to do more than just piece him back together. The signs are all there even if Core is able to shut the AI out of her domain in the Healers Hall. The archivist does zer best to calm him whenever Axel slips free of supervision, allowing him to access and interface with someone less toxic than Core.

His mate, Gry, had followed him to the clan when he had first been injured on the outskirts of Weaver's Luck territory, seeking help. She has tried to remain at his side since, but Alex fears what might happen if Core takes an interest in his attachment to her.
