Biography

I5p64Yz.gif Daria

Child of hazelwood, child of scars and sacred stars: to where will you fly, to whom will you go? Their eyes are all watching, no corners left unlit. The sands scuff your ankles, the wine parches your mouth; there are no allies to which to flee. O child of storms, o child molten, crystal-clear: do the threads of your mantle remember the cooler, dustier days, where as a child you could sing with the larks and the cicadas? What would you do, to recover those lost days?
By Silversilver

Legend has long spoken of the child with the darkened eyes. This child was rumored to bring darkness and destruction upon the world. Many thought this child would come from perhaps the Tangled Wood, where all are born with eyes of shade. Harsh laws were placed upon the clans which inhabited the forest. Soldiers of Light were positioned throughout the Tangled Wood, and at the hatching of each dragon, one of such Soldiers always was present. These soldiers were known as the Light's Grace. If there was any slight suspicion that a child had the darkened eyes, the Light's Grace would quickly resolve the problem. They were a violent and efficient group. Many innocent children were lost, fated to join their ancestors before their lives had even begun.

When Daria was born, everything was wrong. She was the child destined to bring
darkness and destruction upon the world. Her eyes were deep abysses, not unlike the stary night sky. Beautiful. Perfect. Full of stars. Unlike those thought to be the Bringer, Daria's life was not taken. For she was not a child of the Wood. She was born into the Ruins of Light. The Lightweaver's Kingdom. In attempts to save their child from her fate, Daria's parents destroyed her eyes.

They took Daria, mere days old, to the Molten Scar. They called upon one who is only known as Demir, and he used his red-hot iron to blind Daria. Daria's burns never healed. Not completely. Those on her face and those on her heart. Head wrapped in bandages, bruised, bleeding and blinded, Daria's parents abandoned her at a Monastary of Light, beliving that the priests could raise Daria in a world of light, and she would be cleansed.

The monastary took Daria in, and treated her with the kindness she had been
denied throughout all of her short life. She was given a helm to protect the
wounds on her face, which mended after time. It took much time, but, after many
years, the wounds on her heart, too, became bearable.

No dragon had accounted for the power of the darkened eyes. For soon after her
wounds had healed, Daria's vision was returned. They were not the same, though. Daria's eyes had lost all their stars. They were deeper this time, and held a more menacing darkness. Daria hid her eyes from all the world, and, sometimes, even to herself.

She became beloved by all of the Monastary. Soon, she was to become High Priestess. The most holy and cherished in the Kingdom of Light. She was to meet the Lightweaver in all of her beauty. Donning the sacred robes of Light, Daria entered the Chapel of Light, where the Lightweaver was to appear. She performed the sacred ritual, and bowed her head. After some time spent bowing, Daria felt a prescence. She looked up, and saw that all was light.

She was here. Mother Lightweaver.

"Take it off, my child. Do not hide from me."

Daria's hands trembled as she took her helm off and looked up at the Lightweaver. Her scars, although old and healed, burned in the light.

"No, I am mistaken. You are not my child."

Daria stared up at the Lightweaver, whom she had revered for her entire life, as the scars on her heart, too, began to burn with the same pain. She was losing her parent yet again. The light emitting from the Lightweaver began to fade. The light could not reach Daria's heart.

"Do not fret. There is another for you."

The Lightweaver turned to leave, and Daria 's eyes filled to the brim with tears.

"Just not here"

Before she could even watch the Lightweaver disappear into heavenly light, Daria turned tail and fled the Monastary. She put her helm back on, and flew. Where, she did not know. Anywhere, everywhere. She just needed to find where she belonged.

To find her family.
