Itarus is a boisterous dragon who was called to Cindercone Clan to serve as a hedge against any other sandsurge incursions. While he has all the natural abilities of one, his background in a gaoler-led Nature clan suggests he should have minimal interests in the parched lands of Lightning... or so the clan hopes.

Enthusiastic and generally good-natured, Itarus has thrown himself into various improvement projects for the clan, interconnecting and reinforcing their old lava tube refuges and helping shore up the foundations of Ykkerekk's towers. He takes regular breaks to sit and listen and feel, head cocked and spine flared, for the diggings of any of his fellows, though so far he has only detected them down by the Blacksand Shore, and then only at odd times and tides.

While no one in the clan entirely trusts him, Itarus's friendliness means most in the clan like him. Even Ykkerekk approves of someone with a Lightninglander work ethic and an eye for infrastructure. Ithiliisahn and to a lesser extent Chysiraal, however, feel that Itarus takes a little too much pleasure in flaunting the shimmering enhancements winding through his frame—the successful version of their respective prototype and failed recreation.

Craft
Itarus specializes in carving stone, though he also treats his everyday tunneling as an art. He favors angular recreations of natural features like leaves and shrubs, and often lines even basic maintenance tunnels with quick first passes at them.

Physical description
A somewhat small, tall-spined sandsurge with a powerful build, Itarus is fast and agile both overland and swimming, and an impressively fast burrower by outsider standards. He has a powerful redcedar-like scent overlaid with an ozone tinge from his augmentation. His voice is deep and oddly musical, but any grandeur is undermined by his tendency to speak rapidly about minutiae of tunneling and things he has encountered underground.

Combat
Until some undefined time at which he has proved himself "trustworthy", Elkrekeodh has formally excused Itarus from battle-training, though his muscular frame and natural speed see him in good stead in the informal scuffles common in a clan replete with mirrors and aberrations.

Origin
Itarus hails from a Nature clan in the depths of the Shrieking Wilds. The first to answer Elkrekeodh's call for unaligned sandsurge, he settled in fairly quickly.

Kin
The grandson of wild Nature gaolers, and son of their Nature sandsurge son and his Fire mate, Itarus has few kindred on record, though he has several siblings: older brothers Izthul and Izune, both of whom have children of their own, and younger sisters Itara and Itari, still struggling to set out on their own.

Itarus has bonded with this symbiont larail for now, though he has his eyes set on a more formidable familiar when he is permitted combat training.
