When Si Ying was a young demon, she and her sister Mo Nu were captured by the gods. Her sister was tortured and killed, but Si Ying was rescued by the Demon God. Not only did the Demon God kill the God of War who was responsibible for Mo Nu's death, he also placed the scattered pieces of her sister's soul into an umbrella which he gifted to Si Ying.

To repay this kindness, Si Ying is determined to follow the Demon God, no matter the cost to herself.

When the Demon God is killed by Ming Ye and the demons trapped in the Barren Abyss, Si Ying bids her time along with Jing Mie, waiting 3,000 years to enact their lord's plan for his resurrection.

Even when she is reunited with Mo Nu after her sister's trial in the mortal realm as Ye Bingchang, Si Ying still blindly and faithfully follows her lord, unable to to see a life outside of service to him.
