Quinn

Quinn lived a very humble life until she met Ace. She was born with a special ability to predict the future, an ability that was passed down through the generations of women in her family. However, very few knew of their talents, as it was kept secret to anyone outside of the family. Despite this, Quinn had always dreamed of helping and sharing her predictions with others, especially when she was younger and did not know the risks of being discovered.

One late Winter night, while enjoying the festivities of the Trickmurk Circus, one of her closest friends let her secret slip, and a nearby dragon got wind of their conversation. He confidently approached the two dragons with a subtle smirk, and asked "Is it true?" She felt a surge of panic as she met the dragon’s gaze. He was a handsome spiral with dark red scales and checkerboard markings. He wore a white top hat and held a purple cloth over his wings. He had an assertive yet charismatic aura, but also a hint of danger. She tried to act casual and deny his question. “What are you talking about? I don’t have any special ability. You must have misheard us.” She hoped he would believe her and leave them alone.

But the dragon was not easily fooled. He smiled and leaned closer to her, making her feel a little uncomfortable. “Oh, come on. Don’t be shy. Your secret is safe with me. I’m just curious about your talent. You see, I have a special ability too. I can read minds.” He said sarcastically as he winked at her. "My name's is Ace, what's yours?"

"It's Quinn," she said hesitantly. She then evaluated Ace once more, head to tail, before telling him the truth. Despite the sense of danger, she could feel he was someone of importance. She sighed and said, “Fine. You’re right. I can predict the future. But it’s not as simple as you think." She grabbed him by his wrist, leaving her friend behind, and led him into the dark alleyway that she called home. She invited him inside and asked him to sit down on a purple cushion. She then took out her crystal ball and placed it on a decorative oval cloth that lay on the table in front of them. "I am not allowed to tell people my secret because my family is afraid of what they might do to us or to others," she said softly, then added "But for some reason I feel like I can trust you, and to be honest, I've always wanted to be able to use my abilities publicly."

Slightly annoyed by him learning her secret she told him, "Your reading is going to cost a small offering." Within a second, Ace pulled out some treasure and placed it on the cloth. Quinn then took Ace's hand and then her eyes closed. She asked him to think of a question and when he had it to squeeze her hand. Her other hand remained draped over the ball. Once she felt his hand squeeze hers, she could feel how he felt and what he desired. Quinn could sense his fear of his business falling through, and his confidence that was once high, hitting a low. As she navigated through the many possibilities, she gave him the best financial advice she could for his issue.

Once his reading was complete, he told her "I think you have a lot of potential, Quinn. And I think you’re wasting it by hiding it from the world.” He winked at her again and said, “Think about it.” He then turned around and walked away, leaving Quinn speechless and stunned.
