Khione hails from the frigid Fortress of Ends, and grew up in the court of the Icewarden himself. There she learned how to navigate the frosty skein of schemes and politicking that went on, and gained a solid grasp of how kingdoms' laws are crafted and developed. She mastered etiquette and the courtly graces, and learned to mask her thoughts and feelings behind a mask of cool calm. It seemed certain that Khione could have a future there, become another aristocrat with blood chilled to blue. She could follow in her parents' and grandparents' footsteps, inherit their holdings and serve the Icewarden, suggesting laws and waging legal battles with political enemies as her family had always done...

But no. Such a life was not for her, she decided. She, Khione, would take her skills elsewhere and use them to build something new.

In her quest for a place to forge her own position, Khione traveled far from her home, and her quest took her from pole to pole, from the Fortress of Ends to the Pillar of the World. At first, traveling on her own with none to help her but herself was a disconcerting experience for a Skydancer from an established patrician family. She learned how to swallow her pride, and threw herself into the study of taking care of herself in the way she'd mastered courtly graces and legal precedents. It wasn't easy, and most of the dragons she met found her to be an aloof, noble fish out of water, but she refused to give up and go home and keep doing what dozens of her ancestors had already done.

Finally, she reached the Shattered Plains, and came upon a pair of enterprising young dragons trying to establish their own clan. They were just two dragons against the world, putting blood and tears into scraping out a crude lair in an exposed batholith. Awed by their ideals and dedicated, Khione decided to join them. Once she proved that she was a willing pair of claws, they readily befriended her. She used her political and legal knowledge to help them build up the political infrastructure of their budding clan, and has remained a trusted advisor throughout the years.

Today, she is only below the two founders on the Demesne's chain of command. Her duties mainly consist of handling administrative tasks that Pele is unable to oversee personally. She also spends much of her time refining the clan's laws and economic policies, and putting diplomatic and trade agreements into proper legal shape. She also represents the Demesne as prosecutor- or, on extremely rare occasions, as defense- should the clan as a whole be party to a legal dispute. In the clan's earlier years, it was decided that she would be the regent of young Rasa, the daughter of Pele and Wahieloa, if any disaster struck the two founders. Now that Rasa is full grown that task is no longer necessary, but Khione still usually takes up the mantle of leadership in Pele's place when she and Wahieloa are galavanting across the land on their few days off.

Khione is as cool and collected as the icy realm she hails from, keeping her head in a crisis and not allowing passions to rule her actions. She is not intentionally aloof, but often still comes across that way. At her warmest she'll give someone a small smile and some kind words. Her mate Plouton, grandson Deep, and endearingly lazy Slumbering Charlatan bring out her more affectionate side- she practically dotes on her grandson- but many other dragons think of her as severe and remote. She and Plouton keep in touch with their son Mercutio in the Shadow clan of lord Nergal, and also with their younger son, Iote, who once lived on the Demesne before choosing to enter the exalted service of the Earthshaker.
