Biography
Gaea rests within a hidden cave behind a waterfall that bears down the side of the cliff her clan calls home. As she has lain there unmoving for years, her body has taken on qualities of her environment.
During her animated life, Gaea was a friend and motherly figure to many. She had a surprisingly tender touch for her large size, and with this power she could soothe any fussy hatchling and revive any dying plant. Gaea was an intensely spiritual seer, and she would often speak of coming events as if they were already happening. This future sight led to her calm martyrdom.
As the infamous hurricane raged across the Sea of a Thousand Currents, countless lairs were left capsized and shattered in its wake. Even clans who had forseen the calamity were left unprepared. Gaea, as one of her clan's most powerful seers, had already resigned to her sacrifice as she believed a return to peace would follow the storm.
The hurricane hit in minutes. A unremarkable cloudy sky was transformed into a muddled swath of gray, strong winds whistling through the clan's network of caves. Gaea was already in place, in a secret cave at the very heart of Sunbeam Grotto. She summoned all of her power and, within her mind, called on the rest of the clan to join her. Her faith left her unfearing of the consequences that were to follow, for herself and for the rest of the clanmembers. Gaea's body weakened as she forced her magic out through her ocean-blue eyes, seeing straight through the rock wall of the cave to the whirling hurricane outside.
All at once, the magic of the elements coursed through each member of the clan, and then - snap! Hundreds of dragons froze in place as their inner magic exited their bodies. The mixed magic joined with the sea spray in the air to create a veil of impenetrable mist surrounding the clan. Left powerless, the dragons of the clan fell into a deep hibernation that would last for decades. Having seen her fate through, Gaea closed her eyes for the last time, heaving a deep sigh as her body turned to stone.
